Sharper Image jumbo remote will not accept codes

Have a direct TV DVR and Panasonic TV with a Sony DVD and Bose Cinewave for sound. NOw all work with the DTV remote but got the jumbo as a gag but my wife really likes and wants to use. Have tried several times with the instructions and no luck even tried the search on both the TV and DTV....no luck.

Should I give up?

Thanks, Tom

Your best bet is to use the auto-search function of the remote to run through all the choices in the SAT category for the Direct TV box. I know it is more of a cable box, than a satellite box, but there are many code choices for direct TV under the satellite code listings. I think you will be out of luck for the Bose Cinewave. I am surprised that the Panasonic TV codes didn't work for you using the auto-search.

Here are the codes I have handy for Direct TV set-top boxes (SAT button) : 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216 & 217.

And for Panasonic TV's: 003, 054, 055, 062, 070, 148, 170 & 171.

And for Sony DVD's: 009 & 174.

To program your remote to the TV by entering a code, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
  3. Press the TV button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
  4. Enter the first set of 3-digit codes from the list. The LED will blink once every keypress. After the 3rd digit, the red LED will turn off indicating that the code was recognized for the device. If the code was not compatible, the LED will flash several times and you need to return to step 2 to try that code again or to try the next code in the list.
  5. After the LED has turned off, aim the remote at the TV and press ON/OFF. If the device turns off, you have used the correct code and the remote was successfully programed. If the device does not power off, return to step 2 and try again with the next code in the list.

To have the remote try each TV code it knows one at a time, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
  3. Press the TV button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button slowly and repeatedly until the TV turns off. The LED will blink once each time you press the ON/OFF button.
  5. Once the TV turns off, press the ENTER button to store the code and the LED will turn off.
------------------------------

As I mentioned, try substituting SAT for the Direct TV box, and of course DVD for the Sony player.

I hope that helps.

I need trhe codes for direct tv for my jumbo remote its a dvr box

Here are the Innovage Jumbo Remote codes for Direct TV satellite boxes:

200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217.

INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED FOR THE SHARPER IMAGE - JUMBO UNIVERSAL REMOTE

Hello kls1996... programming your remote is rather easy. The easiest way (thanks to The Sharper Image Jumbo Remote being a LEARNING SMART remote) is to do the following:

1 - Point the head of your Sharper Image remote at the head of your Sanyo TV remote (nose to nose so the clear bulbs on each remote are facing each other).

2 - Press the "TV" button on your Sharper Image remote (located in the upper left-hand corner).

3 - Hold the "LEARN" button on your Sharper Image remote (located in the left edge under the volume buttons) until the red light flashes.

4 - Press the key on your Sharper Image remote (e.g. Volume Up or +VOL)... the red light will go solid (indicating that it is waiting for a signal from the other (in your case Sanyo) remote.

5 - Press the key on your other remote (in your case the Sanyo remote) that you want programmed in your new Sharper Image remote... the red light will flash rapidly again.

6 - Repeat step #4 until you have programmed each key.

7 - When done... press the "LEARN" key on your Sharper Image remote. Your Sharper Image remote should be programmed to operate your device (in this case, your Sanyo TV).

NOTE: You can program other devices such as your VCR, DVD, VHS, SAT, CABLE, etc. and not just one device.
