Wired doorbell. Electrician installed wireless but said he left the wired one so if we ever wanted to go back, we could. Wireless has been problematic and now we want to connect wired one. Found wires and wrapped around posts on button. Don't work. Touching the two wires together doesn't work. Checked chime box. Connections look fine. What next?
My new replacemnet 2 chime unit only rings one chime

Locate and check the doorbell system transformer for power. There should be about 24 volts A/C on the secondary side (the side with the smaller exposed wires that go to your doorbell).
The doorbells at the doors are just switches and it sounds like you have already tested them correctly by touching the wires together.
It sounds like a power issue - your electrician may have just disonnected the power wiring after installing the wireless system which would have been the right thing to do.
