What it says on P. 5 of the instructions is WRONG. It shows 4 screws you have to remove, but the backs of them are SMOOTH. No tool I know of works.

How do I remove the pedestal from the 42RV530U?

1.) Set the t.v. face down on a flat, but soft or cushioned surface as not to damage the screen. As you face it down, remember to position the t.v. so the stand is sticking out over the edge of the surface you are placing it on.

2.) There should be four screws on the back of the t.v. set near the stand. Remove them.

3.) Once you remove the four screws, you should be able to pull the pedestal stand away from the t.v. set by sliding it out of its holder.

Hope this helps!

Try using the Audio line out RCA jacks feeding a PC powered speakers to see if it does the same thing, If it is OK, then the problem will be in the power amp sections that drive the speakers.

The screen goes complete blank with sound still on. It takes to shut TV off and power it on right away to get picture back-though the intervals getting shorter down the road . MY Screen goes black and I...

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

Need to remove tv stand

There are 4 screws you need to remove to get the stand off.

There is 2 vertical screws near the ANT/CABLE port and 2 more vertical screws near the power cord.
The stand should slide out after that.
