Hello, I have a Toshiba Tecra 2 and the mouse won't stay on the screen. It wanders and disappears and i am having troublecompleting my work in a timely fashion. I have tried to unplug and plug in. I have changed batteries. I have tried a different mouse. My keypad scroller also gives me difficulty. Could it be related the to power surge on the port hub message that comes up frequently. what do you suggest?

Sound as if you have picked up some malware, carry out in-depth virus checking with up to date anti-virus software, or use an on-line one such as "search and destroy"

Pointer on track pad moves on its own. it does not move along with finger and goes in jerky direction elsewhere.

did water get on the track pad? Try connecting an external mouse to get control over your pointer, and navigate to system preferences/track pad. See if you can play around with the settings, but if the external mouse works ok, it sounds like water may have come in contact with your track pad.

Mouse cursor moving by itself

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.
