Problem connecting to my wep encrypted wireless linksys wrt150n wireless router

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

you can find this out by connecting to your linksys router with a cat 5 cable.
in your browser such as internet explorer or firefox type
192.168.1.1
login with your login/pass that you assigned to it.
go to the wireless tab and go to security
it will show the the WEP key that is needed in order for your laptop or wireless devices to connect.
BTW I would recommended using WPA as WEP is not secured.

The WEP encryption key (network key) is in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the computer or laptop to connect to this wireless router.
I recommend you use WPA or WPA2 encryption, it is much stronger than WEP.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer or laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

1)Access the router’s web-based setup page.

2)When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click Wireless then Wireless Security.

3)Under Security Mode select WEP.

4)Under WEP Encryption select 64 bits 10 hex digits.

5)Type a wireless network password of your choice such as “MySecretKey,” then click Generate.

6)The result will be a string of random characters. Copy the resulting string since this will be the key to your wireless network

7) Click ``Save Settings``

First, check if the devices that you're trying to connect this router supports wireless encryption protocol-N (802.11N). If the devices do support then enable WLAN-N standard by following the manufacturers recommendations.

Then try connecting.

You need to go to the router's page. lynksys is //192.168.1.1 there you can set up you wireless encryption protocol (WEP) and name your broadcast SSID. The great thing about lynksys is you can have your wep key automatically assigned to you. Just make sure you use 128 bit encryption.

If you are using WEP encryption there may be a key you need to enter in order to connect. This will be a long string of letters and numbers. You can find this by looking in the admin of the router under wireless security. I'm sure it's not asking for the admin password or something easy and small. It'll be asking for the wep key.

Right click on your wireless connnection and then choose View available wireless networks.
Make sure you are trying to connect to the wireless N router. Default IP for the router should be 192.168.1.1 and pw is admin(linksys). Also, make sure that in your firewall settings that the subnet of 192.168.1.0 is trusted.
