How do I access and clean the filter, and how often?

Gregory, the problem may lie in where you have the humidity extraction level set. It may be set to high. Try lowering it to 32 -35%. If your unit does not have an LED Screen, turn the manual control to Maximum. Also, check the bucket to make sure it's installed properly and making contact with the bucket removal safety switch. When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. Also, check the air intake filter. It may need serious cleaning.

Cathy, since i a Kenmore ( a house brand for Sears). Sears in Home Service is the place to call.
Since some parts are still under warranty, the repair may cost you nothing. But, you must have your Proof of Purchase for the warranty to be in affect. Either way, Sears is the place to call.

run it without the filter with a 1 part vinegar 4 parts water. then try it with a clean or new filter. You may need to run it a few (5-6) times before it stops shutting off by its self.

I hope someone answers this because I'm having the same problem. Mine is about 4 years old. I thought it was my filthy filter but cleaning didn't change the problem.

there is a switch that when you put the pale back in the right way if the pale is not in all the way it is a kill switch so no water goes on your floor
