The picture of our jvc LT-46FN97 will suddenly go distorted. Sometimes if turned off then back on will return picture to normal, sometimes it has to be left off for hours. Seems to happen more often in summer time. It's only a year or two old, but I'm thinking about opening it up and blowing out the collected dust.
Sounds to me like the digital pixeling that occurs with a weak signal. You have not identified whether this happens on broadcast/antenna TV, cable or satellite service, or a video input such as a DVD. This can be a common problem if you have a weak signal on any of those inputs. In any case, blowing out the dust will not help.

This is caused by a failure of the main board. The failure causes the refresh rate of the unit to be off creating a trailing or ghost effect. This will require a technician to replace that board though. Hope this help.

capacitors are most likely to blame here, there are several that most likely are on the power board and are blown if you get them replaced the tv will function normally, the heat can come from the transformer since it is not getting smooth power from the capacitors. it is working very hard to dump the spikes in the electricity. I ups backup power supply rated for the tv's wattage will help smooth power and protect your investment.

Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.

Sorry, this has no easy fix. The good news is you do not need an LCD Panel. The bad news is the Video Processor has a problem.
This TV has x3 Boards. The one you should replace first is the one in the middle. If this doesn't fix it, try the one on the right. The Part #s are on the Boards if you wanna try ebay.

You need an Analog Board. It is the one in the middle. You can find it on ebay for $50 I think.
