Clothes dryer ran ok an hour ago - not now

Hi Eaton Viking dryer.

set timer (70 min), spring switch caused hum/clicking but drum doesn't turn. Drum can be moved normally manually from inside (with door open).
When open, light is in, so power is ok.

You may have a bushing problem on the drive motor due to dirt or flint. you can check that by removing the belt and try rotating the motor manually. see if it is easy to turn or not.check also the bushing if you can move the shaft sideways..if it has a slack then its a bushing problem. replace the drive motor.

Dryer heats but doesn't completely dry clothes.

See if you could turn the machine and remove the vent hose on the back.
Then, after you are sure it is clear, try a load of clothes with the vent hose blowing out into the air, not hooked to a vent hose pipe through the wall.
Very often, a plugged pipe will cause this behaviour. The pipe could be plugged in the wall or somewhere else.
Be blessed.

Kenmore dryer 70 series doesn't always start, sometimes it will just put out a buzzing sound after its been running and trying to restart, will start back up after 20-30 minutes.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.

Hi riplonka...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid.
Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.
Move the door and front of machine forward to remove.
This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley.

While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Dryer's drum won't rotate, but heat & timer works.

Hello there:
This is normally caused by a belt that has either broke or the motor for the belt has failed and locked up
S o what i would do is to first see if you can manually turn the drum by hand and if so than if you turn on the dryer and hear the motor that turns the drum running or humming you can assume that the motor is ok and that he belt has failed in this case get a new belt and the appliance parts store should be able to give you the proper diagram on how the belt needs to back on but if not let me know and i will be able to get it for you ok? now if you do not hear the motor hum than try to unplug the machine and leave sit for 30 min and than plug it back in and than see if it now tries to run but if no motor sound than youwill know that the motor has either failed and needs to be replaced or that there is a problem with the thermal fuse that is on the controle panel behind the start button ok
i can help if there is any more issues that you need help with.
Hope this is very helpful for you.
Best regards michael

Eaton viking dryer model ED214W449 .Loud hum when you try to star

My Eaton Viking Dryer Model # ED214W449 was running, I heard a loud bang and realized the drum had stopped turning and won't restart. Is this a drum belt issue? Is it hard to repair myself. Where can I get the part for this. Thank you.
