Kenneth cole k3771, is the self-wind function working?

I seem to have to give the watch a couple of manual winds a day. Is that typical of this watch?

How can I know that the self-winding function is working?

Self winding watched should not need to be wound as long as they are being worn.

To tell if the self winding mechanism is working, hold the watch close to your ear (hold it vertical, as though it was on your wrist) and rock it gently. You should be able to hear a ratchet operating (a soft clicking noise).

I can't help thinking your suspicion about the mechanism having failed, sound very likely.

Kenneth Cole New York Men's KC3778 Bracelet Watch. How do I wind a KC3778 model watch?

Question edited for a lot more clarity.
Question moved to maker category.

You don't wind it. Your watch has a battery operated Quartz movement. Some of his watches are automatics, but not that model.
  • Quality Japanese-Quartz movement
  • Mineral crystal
  • Case diameter: 50 mm
  • Stainless-steel case; Gun Metal dial; Date function
  • Water resistant to 99 feet (30 M): withstands rain and splashes of water, but not showering or submersion

I have a Kenneth Cole Reaction Watch KC 1170. I can not get the watch to run. It is brand new.

I have looked at the KC web site and most of the instructions don't give model numbers., so it is impossible to see if any of the instructions listed refer to your watch.
(if you go to http://www.genevawatchgroup.com/ , click on customer service and then scroll down, you will see KC instructions).
Isyour watch automatic? If it is, then it needs to be shaken (gently) from side to side for a minute or two to wind it up.

If it is a quartz type and you have pressed the winder into the home position and it still doesn't start, take it back and ask for a replacement.

I bought it new and then a few weeks later the battery seemed to stop. I did not wear it often. I heard some watches do not use battery and function with the movement of one's arm. Is this the case for...

If the watch is a self winding type, then it generally says "automatic" on the face. These will run for about 2-3 days if they are not worn, as the self winding action only works when the user is moving).

Battery driven watches should run for at least a year before needing a replacement, so if it has stopped already, it could be self winding or manually wound type. Some self winding watches can be manually wound so you could try this to see if it starts.

Is it good to change watch movement to a battery ?Watch was overwound.

Hi,

There is no such things as over winding a watch. If it is not an automatic watch then the watch will wind until it stops. If the watch does not run then something else is wrong.

If the watch is an automatic then about 30 winds will fully wind the watch. But, you can continue to wind the watch forever. It will never stop winding. Again, if it does not run after being wound there is something else wrong.

To fix your watch you need to have a qualified watchmaker repair it for you.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Setting day/date on kenneth cole dual time watch I have a Kenneth COle KC1336 watch with analog hands, 2 digital displays, and it is also a stopwatch. Can't figure out how to change the day/date.

first, unscrew the stem lock. Then you can pull it out to the first "click". That is the "manual wind mode" if for some reason the auto-wind is not working due it has run all the way down. Pull it out again. That is the time set mode. The next "click" (pulling it out again) is the date set mode. Once you have them set, push the stem back in (past all clicks) and then re-screw the stem back to the lock position.
