The ground under one of the feet may have collapsed.
The drum may be loose.
One of the springs that support the drum may have broken.
Check the machine by just trying to wobble it on it's feet, this way you can tell if it is firmly on the floor. check that the machine is level
Look down on the drum against the body and see if it is central to the frame and just get hold of the rim and try to give the drum a shake and see if it is loose, these machines always shake a bit because of the design, they are normally used in nursing homes etc in the uk

Why is it that my LG machine shakes violently while it's rinsing? Is it supposed to be like that please?

Question 2 also edited for clarity, 'LG' not 'lg'.
No model details again.

Surely not during 'Rinse' cycle? That just adds water and gently tumbles to get the soap out and complete the washing by further agitating the clothes. You must mean during spinning and much depends on if it is a front loader, or a top loader. For both, machine not level front to back and left to right and / or not sitting firmly on all 4 feet.

Top loader, bulky load unevenly loaded.

Front loader, single bulky item causing an uneven load.

My maytag washer is shaking violently on the rinse cycle

I am currently having the same issue with my Maytag A482. Not sure if you have found a fix yet, or if you have replaced your washer. My washer runs fine until it nears the end of the cycle, when it begins to spin and shake violently, enough to loosen the leveling feet and rock back and forth. I pulled the front panel of the machine off (two screws near the base in the front, and two clips at the top) and ran a load through it. It ran fine until the end, when the machine started shaking violently. I did notice a few small pieces of roundish felt looking material sitting on the bottom, which after some research looks like it may be the damper pad. I found these online:
Damper pad 203956
Replacement Damper 203725 for MAYTAG Laundry Appliances A482

I am hoping this will resolve the issue, I will order them this afternoon and install them once they arrive. I really hate to replace such a good washer with a new high efficiency unit, which all seem to have terrible reviews after a few months/year of use.

Washing machine shakes violently during spin

Hi

If your washing machine shakes violently or if there's a loud thumping noise during the spin cycle, the load of clothes has probably gotten unbalanced. Open the lid, redistribute the clothes in the washer, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Kenmore Oasis HE shakes violently during spin cycle

Machine legs should be adjusted so that machine is level and standing on all four legs. The load in the machine should be evenly distributed. Utube has an excellent video on washing machine repair.

Maytag lat6914aae top load washer shakes violently in spin cycle

A washer can have self leveling legs at the back. If they are rusty or clogged and not free to move, they will not self level and the machine will rock when working. Check the leveling apparatus, it's a bunch of metal pieces going across the lower back of the machine. Spray them with a lubricant and move them to make sure they are free.

Shook Violently first time on spin cycle

Make sure the washer is leveled properly and all four feet are resting on the floor. If it is level, try running one cysle without any clothes in it to see it is spins without that violent shaking.. you may have also had an out of balance load.. Hope that helps!

Maytag top load washer

This solution applys to many Maytag washing machines. Perhaps not all.
Maytags have three damper pads in the bottom of the machine that must be lubricated from time to time. If they are not, they can be ripped off. They are glued to the bottom of the machine, the drum rests on top of them. When they become dry or lost, the machine shakes violently and no amount
of leveling or load balancing will fix it. Replace and/or lubricate the pads and magically it works again.

This is not a difficult repair for those that have modest mechanical skills and a few basic tools.
replacement pads and lube come in an inexpensive kit.n

I will create a web page with instructions if there is interest.
