White appears pink

Not much to go on here but I'll have a go at it. My first impression is that the camera "white balance" has been altered the E 500 has eight programed white balance settings. It also supports five picture modes one of which is Sepia which is a soft overcast of tan which could be mistaken for pink.
What may have happened is that camera white balance has been shifted to the florescent setting.

About half way down the page you will see the presets for white balance titled colour and white balance.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free worldwide, and may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info. Ps. the A80 is a neat camera. Although its viewscreen is small, it still takes amazing pictures even by today's standards. Good luck in getting it fixed!

check the white balance setting. You need to reset white balance each time you use camera whether you are shooting inside or out and for the time of day Auto does not always give you the best results.

Sounds as though the white balance is off, check your manual on how to alter the white balance to manual - then change it back to auto. It should fix it.

Have you tried changing the White Balance. You can access this by switching on the camera, pressing the Fn button and then the left arrow.

Possibly a form of flare caused by including the light source in the image.

I replied your question about pink tint noise in picture.

Check your picture settings, the wrong setting for the time of day or object can definetly throw off the appearance of your pictures. Plus, you may have accidentally set it to "warm" instead of auto or black and white, etc. Warm pictures have a reddish tint to them just as the cool have a blue tint. Also I have found the "night setting" only takes really good pictures if you are close to the subject otherwise it is pretty dark!

It my be the gama board. It is hard to tell sometimes the logic board can be at fault.
