Cd burner i have aopen cd-rw5232 does not read. i have installed the driver correctly and it shows the driver under my computer, but for some reason it does not read any cds...

dvd rw drives do not need drivers installed to be able to use it for windows 7, if your drive is not working under your operating system(windows 7)

make sure that the cd/dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom you might see a yellow quaestion mark? right click to install drivers
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it

Check the connectors on the drive after you have opened the case. If all of the cables are connected correctly and the drive is good then you should goto the contro9l panel and see if there are any driver problems. If a yellow exclamation point shows next to the DVD drive then you must install the correct drivers. To download the correct drivers Google the model number and goto the manufacturers site under support and download the correct driver and then install it. Reboot your system after installing driver and windows should automatically find it and complete the installation.

Hi, Does it show the Cd burner after pressing START BUTTON and then COMPUTER? If it is not shown, try reinstalling the Drivers that came with the machine. If no Cd with Drivers then visit the Website of the manufactures of the CD burner. Check there for the Driver download. If still no joy the Cd burner may need cleaning ( this is not always recommended, delicate parts etc..) or it may of failed. Prices for new Cd burner are very reasonable maybe worth buying a new 1, if the PC/Laptop is still in warranty take it back and complain.

The chances are that the drivers for them got corrupted and you can install them fron your motherboard cd. To install them go to Control panel-> add new hardware-> search for new hardware-> if it shows up then its good else add them from the list. It will then install the drivers from your motherboard cd (the cd you got with your system or from the cd you got with your disk drive).

If this doesn't help then check for the connectors(going into disk drive from power supply and motherboard) by opening your pc.

Just select your product, model and download what you need. Make sure to allow your firewall the ftp access to these files.

if u got a cd with ur DVD RW u neet to install the drivers and then reboot the pc

it's a classic drive failure problem where the laser can no longer burn or read dvd's, and show rhr writer as a cdrw, but may still be able to read or write cd's only. You will have to replace the drive, they are quite inexpensive, and very easy to fit.

Right click on my computer>properties>device manager>hardware and look for line saying cd/dvd drives and highlight your dvd burner. Right click it and click uninstal. Restart your pc and Windows will automatically re install it. See if this works, if not either needs a lazer clean disc or you need to replace it they are cheap these days.
