My guess is that something got disturbed in the plug when you pulled it off/put it back on. You turn it to "hot wash" and it does nothing? Does it buzz?

The Error code "nf" is No Fill. Turn off the water at the wall connection and remove your fill hoses at the washer. Inside the inlet to the water valve there are inlet screens. Use a thin knife blade or a scribe on the outside of the screens and remove them. Wash them under slowly running water while rubbing them with your fingers to clean them off. After cleaning reinstall the screens and connect your hoses to the washer.
Next remove the hoses at the wall faucett / hose bibb and check for inlet screens in the hoses. If there are inlet screens in the hoses at the wall connection remove them and clean them. Otherwise reconnect the hoses.. turn on the water... check for leaks and test your machine for proper filling. If it still does not fill or you get the nf code again you most likely have a bad inlet water valve. Either the diaphragm is stuck or... one of the water valve solenoids have failed. The solenoids and water valve assemblies are NOT repairable. IF they fail the only remedy is replacement. Solenoids will read resistance with a meter. The resistance should be the same for both soloenoids. If either one of them reads open the water valve must be replaced.
If the steps above do resolve your problem, respond here and I will help you at that time.
NF = No Fill the control board receives signaling for the washer during the water fill cycle. With most cycles the depth of water is around 3.5 inches in the wash basket. I know a Bulky Wash cycle selection will fill the wash tub to a high fill which is about 7.5 inches of water in the wash basket.
Is the washer filling the machine with any water? Do you hear water entering the machine? If you are doing a cold water fill and there is no or very little water in the wash basket with the NF error code. Try a Warm or Hot fill and see if the machine will fill and start the wash cycle.
Assuming you are doing cold water wash loads. You could have a water line block at the inlet screen or a failed cold water inlet valve which will not open. Try the above and let me know the results..........Rich
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. Error NF
means No Fill. The washer has tried to fill but was unsuccessful. NF indicates
No Flow. There is something that is interrupting the inbound flow
of water to the washer, either hot or cold. Sometimes this happens
when water service in the area is interrupted, creating an air pocket that
causing the water valve not to sense water. Try running the diagnostic test by—
Press
the delicates and heavy soil keys together for 3 seconds.
You
are in the service mode.
Now,
press wrinkle free key, cold water should start entering.
Then,
press the cotton sturdy and hot water should flow.
To
exit the test mode, either unplug the machine or press the delicate and
heavy soil again for 3 seconds.
Please do rate the solution if the
issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
You have tried both a Hot fill and a Cold fill and still no water flow? You could try going into Service Mode and turn on the water inlet valves with console commands. See page 16 of the Service Manual and see if you can turn the water inlet valves one at a time and get water to flow into the machine.Getting into Service Mode is easy to do
The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference. If still no water flow it would be time to check 120VAC on the water valve solenoids when you command them on in Service Mode.If no 120VAC present then we might have a Stuck open High level pressure switch which would disconnect 120VAC to the Control Board relays that operate to switch 120VAC to the Hot/Cold solenoid valves. How do you feel about troubleshooting?Do you have a DVM?I have the schematic in PDF format if you need.Let me know if you want to DIY the fix......Rich
NF code is Washer does not turn on water valves to fill washer with water. You may need to replace your water valves, but I would first try removing your hot and cold water hoses to see if the screen on your valves is clogged. If they are corroded beyond repair, just pick up another set at the hardware store. Either that or you will need to do the valve replacement.
NF error for the FAV6800AW machine an many others = a no water fill error. The Control Board has not sensed from the pressure switch the correct water fill level after X amount of time. Do you hear water flowing into the washer for the Cold or Hot water fill cycle? If not you could have clogged water inlet valve screens. I would shut off the Hot/Cold water supplies to the machine and pull the supply hoses off the back of the machine and inspect the water supply inlet screens. They look like this; You could have a failed water valve solenoid.Do you hear the water valve solenoids go clunk at the start of the water fill cycle? I assume your machine is a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW here are some links for reference if you want to troubleshoot the issue; The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
HI, this error code is signaling an issue with the fill actions. Your washer seems to be having problems when it try's to fill the tub with water.
First, make sure there's water getting
to the washing machine. Make sure the water faucets are open all the way.Check for kinked hoses as well.
If the hoses are fine and, the faucets are fully open, this will confirm a inlet water valve malfunction. you will need to replace this failed component in this case. it has failed.
The machine needs to cut you a break; “”i have a maytag neptune TL and there are several things wrong with it...1. I can't wash small loads it will stop at the spin cycle and flash dc”” This issue is a clutch issue see this post to DIY the repair. “”it will wash fine on regular loads until it comes to spin cycle again and it will stop and flash nf”” This one is a little confusing the “nf” error is a No water fill error code.Check these two post for support regarding water inlet restriction or valve not opening properly. nf postnf post 2 “”my fabric softener dispenser will not let the softener out neither will the bleach dispenser”” See this fabric softer post for support. The fabric softener dispenser may be clogged or the water dispenser valves feeding both dispensers may not be operating properly. The Service Manual on page 16 “Board Output Test” will give you support to turn on the Fabric Softener Valve and Bleach valve.See if you hear the valves operate in Service Mode” My method may seem a little confusion for viewing water flow to the dispensers. This issue could be associated to the nf error you are receiving, restricted water flow (inlet screen clog) or cold water valve not working properly. Post back for any questions or possible support I can offer.I’m an owner like you not a repair person but I’m very comfortable working on this machine.Rich
NF = No water fill.I haven’t had this failure to date but this how I would troubleshoot.Could be a block at the water valve inlet screens where the supply hoses connect to the machine.Check to see if the washer fill screens are blocked,It could be a failure of the Cold/Hot water solenoid valves.I would try to fill with hot water if no fill try cold only. It might be easier to go into Service Mode to turn on and off the water valves while troubleshooting this issue.Enter Service Mode and use the keys assigned to the table at the bottom right side of page 16 of the FAV6800A/9800A Service Manual .Do this check only if you feel qualified, if still no water fill after the above checks I would break out my DVM and check for 120VAC at the water inlet valves.Post Back if you need additional help.Rich
