Press the Caption button on the remote control to cycle through the caption options until OFF appears. If there is no Caption button on the remote, go to the system menu and turn captions off in the caption submenu.

I am sorry you don't. You will need the original remote. I have enclosed a link where you can see the original remote and order one if you want to. If you see the picture, there is a caption button on the remote to turn on and off the closed captions Good Luck. I have a DYNEX 42"

Do you have a cable or satellite box connected to the TV? If so the box is probably what is providing the Closed Caption and not the TV.

How to remove subtitles from sony bravia tv screen

You can download the user manual here.
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Toshiba-57H84-TVs-manual/id/311ag813/t/2/
The closed caption feature has two options:
• Captions—An on-screen display of the dialogue, narration, and sound effects of TV programs and videos that are closed captioned (usually marked as “CC” in TV listings).
• Text—An on-screen display of information not related to the current program, such as weather or stock data (when provided by individual stations).
To view captions or text:
1. Tune the TV to the desired program.
2.Press MENU, and then press x or • to display CUSTOM menu.
3. Press y or z to highlight CC, and then press ENTER.
4. Press y or z to highlight CAPTION or TEXT, and then press Enter.
To turn off the Closed Caption feature:
Highlight OFF in step 4.

Closed caption

Are you talking computer or TV?
Closed caption on a TV is when the volume is muted and it prints the speech in a box on the screen. You have to turn it on in the menu.

Closed caption

Closed caption wont turn off was solved by Bresnan tech. He told me the only way was to push the power button on my remote & then push the menu button right away & it would bring up a white screen & cc would be on it. I could't get it to work so I pushed the power button on my remote & the menu button on my motorola cable box & up came the screen & closed caption was on it. I disabled it & it took off the closed caption. Hope this helps

Closed captioning

I had the same problem. My DVD player was connected to my HD TV via a HDMI cable as was recommended by the DVD owner's manual. I removed the HDMI cable and attached the three video component cables. Bingo, closed caption crossed immediately.
