I'm using a sony rdr-vx535/BC in Singapore shipped from USA. When I connect to my cable box, I get only sound and grey blank screen. I think the picture did appear for a second before it became blank....

Yes common problems are PAL and NTSC signals frequencies compabilities.That why u should,alway buy regions free equipments.U don't stay in the same countries same frequencies regions too long.

Set up sony RDR-VX535 recorder to DVD1. now remote does not work.

See the manual on page 22.
The solution is to reset your remote code to DVD1 (default is DVD3).

Press the ENTER button and NUMBER ONE button simultaneously for at least three seconds. Viola, control returns.

Trying to hook up RDR-VX535 with Direct TV satelite. No code is listed in the book

we have that same problem every day. not all components are listed and therefore you are forced to use two remotes, or possibly purchase one good universal remote and with some luck it will operate everything for you.

Can't get my sony RDR- VX535 out of the 2 mode. remote will not operate the recorder. i perchased this unit used on ebay. it played fine until i got it out of wack the remote with this unit is a sony...

*Take the remote away from the player. Then hold the enter button and the code* 1 or 2 down for 3 sec. and then you will get some use and you can reset factory defaults. Then repeat from * to * reset for code 3. Hope this works for you.
