Does it pop in the PSAM modes as well as the auto modes? Does it flash when you take a picture?

The flash will come on because the light meter is reading that you need more light in order for your exposure to correctly turn out. If you think you don't need it, the flash will give you fill light. If you don't want it on, go into the menu, put the flash to "off" or run the camera in a manual mode and don't use the "green" auto mode. This should probably take care of it.

My nikon d90 pop up flash is not working but the pup up is poping up

Hi Reggie,

Usually the pop up flash will extend when the program calls for it or the user has manually turned it on, and it will fire without an issue. Page 70 of the manual goes into detail how it is set up and uses graphics which won't work very well here. Unless you have the "circle with a line though it" over the lightning bolt "flash" symbol, the flash should fire when needed.

It is possible that the flash lamp has failed, and may need to be replaced. Contact Nikon Service & Support or other reputable camera shop to help you with that.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Cannot stop on board flash from flashing in

In commander mode, the onboard flash must flash. How else would it communicate with your slave flash(es)? Depending on your settings, almost all of the communications can be done before the picture is taken.

Is the onboard flash negatively impacting your photos?

Nikon D90-popup flash will not stay closed

if you close it when it is NOT powered, does it keep on opening? if it does, you may have broken the latch that keeps the pop up from opening.

Metz 58 AF with Nikon d90 wont flash

Hi, Bad news for you.

Try this.
  1. put new batteries in flash.
  2. turn flash on off camera.
  3. listen for capacitor to squeal (high pitched whistle). If you hear it it is charging. If not capacitor is bad.
  4. Also should see flash ready light come on. If it does not same as #3 above.
  5. If you pass #3 & 4# above press manual flash/check/test button on flash. No flash means bulb is out. It can be replaced.
Hope this fixed ya. Please rate. Good Luck! Comment back if you need further assistance.
