I PURCHASED THE FREEZER ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND HAVE IT OUT IN OUR GARAGE, WE HAD A REAL NICE MINNESOTA COLD SNAP ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND EVER SINCE I COULD HEAR THE FREEZER RUNNING DIFFERENTLY AND WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ON ALL THE FOOD, EVERYTHING WAS STARTING TO THAW. THE FREEZER IS CONSTANTLY RUNNING BUT NOT FREEZING. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....

It might be a part called the " controller " It's located down close to the compressor. It's a small black connector with 2 wires going into it, and there is a compassitor plugged into it as well

We have an upright Commercial Grade heavy duty Imperial Freezer, model # UL4000ECW2, purchased a little over 10 years ago. Today I noticed that everything in it is thawing and when I close it, it no longer...

the suction noise is not something that will happen all the time.
check the current draw on the compressor and make sure it is in between 1.2 and 1.6 amps.also look at you evaporator coils and make sure there is no excessive frost build up.If there is ice build up then you need to defrost it check the heating element and defrost timer and make sure they are in proper working order.also check the evaporator fan and make sure it is working when the unit is in a cooling mode.

I need to know what the numbers mean on the temperature setting (1-7) for my Gibson Upright Freezer? What is best recommended temperature?

The highest number is the coldest setting. When you fill it up with food to freeze , set the freezer to the coldest and after everything is frozen .set the control to the middle.

I have an older commercial upright Hobart freezer. The freezer seems to operate fine, cycling but always returning the compartment to zero degrees, until all of a sudden the temperature went up, well...

In most cases, an evap that freezes up is either an air flow problem or no defrost cycle. Older Hobarts have mechanical defrost time clocks. It could be locked up i.e., not running so no defrost cycle.
It could be coming out of defrost too early because the sensor that monitors the evap temp is not working properly.
The door could not be closing. If left cracked open, it will freeze up every time as unit never hits temp., keeps unit running. Warm air is seeping in and the moisture freezes on evap.
Lastly, the defrost heater(s) may not be working. Burned out, shorted, broken wire, etc.

Good luck and hope this helps.

My deep freeze outside will not stay cold.

a freezer is just a heat pump . from inside the freezer to the garage . the first law of thermodynamics says heat travels from a hotter to a colder surface . it could just be the cold how much are we talking?

Freezer Problem

If it started to cool again the compressor was running. Check the condenser and make sure it is clean. Provide as much air movement through the garage as possible . 100 degrees is a high temperature to be operating a refrigerator in.
