Icemaker makes ice, but will not dispense ice via door.

Icemaker makes ice, but will not dispense ice via outside door. Motor works, but only drops ice if a few cubes in bin. Something is jamming I think, started after I switched to crushed, and then back to cubes. I emptied the bin, but still does not work. Any ideas?

Thanks for the info. I did take out the ice bin, and the auger coupler worked, but then when ice was put in the bin, it started to slip, which I guess means something is stripped. I tried to tighen it, but now does not seem to work at all. At first I thought it was the bracket attached to the motor(that turns the bin auger) but that appears to be one piece with the screw, so it is apparently slipping at the other end where it is attached to the motor. (behind the housing). I guess the question is do I need a whole new motor (which makes a sound normally when activated, and it was turning the auger intermittently) or is it just the coupling that can be replaced. This Whirlpool (not Friderdaire) is new just out of warranty. Model ED2KVEXVQ00.

When there was little ice in the bin, it worked, but with resistance, it stopped. So I took the bin out and then tested the bolt (screw) with a bracket (not sure that is the correct term) attached to it that fit into the back of the bin to make the auger go around. It looked OK at first but noticed it was not tight. So when it met some resistance from the ice the motor would run, but the bolt with the bracket would not turn, it just stopped. I can now easily turn it with my finger. It is loose somewhere behind the housing, and seems like the screw threads may be stripped. Maybe I had too many ice cubes frozen together at the bottom of the bin, and it caused too much pressure on the place where the metal screw is attached to the motor. The diagrams show the motor, and then a separate part called a "coupling" that then lines up with the auger to make it turn. It is the coupling that is loose somehow where it attaches to the motor--the diagrams show it as two separate pieces, but don't know if the problem is the cupling thread or the thread witin the motor. Sure is frustrating with a new appliance.

The auger arm in the back of the freezer should be rotating to test this hold the door switch in and push the dispise button down. If it does not even try it could be the control switch on the door. the auger motor is a 120v motor and relatively strong. You can test to see if you can manually turn the arm it should trurn stiffly. Its alsoi a chance you don't have the been in place correctly.

The auger motor comes in one piece, I assume that you are able to turn the auger in the tray when out of frigde. Becuse it could be missing the piece at back of bin or have somthing out of line in the bin.

I am having the same problem as described above. The "coupling" will very slowly rotate clockwise if I hold the door switch and press the control switch. So the control switch is good and I can hear the motor and everything, but the coupling moves very slowly and if I rotate it by hand is spins very easily, as if something is stripped. And no matter which direction I spin it and how much, it never goes anywhere. Were you able to resolve this or did someone have to come out and replace expensive parts?

I have the same problem. How DOES the bin seat correctly? There is no "snap in place" when seated properly. It's a strange design! Never had one made so cheaply. What is the "despise" button? Do you mean dispense? Where is it located? Where is a picture of how all this "fits" correctly? Manual says turn auger 90 degrees to the right; did that, no change--will NOT dispense ice from chute. Makes a banging noise with vibration and loud. Guess I'll just have to reach in the bin for cubes. Where is the switch to change from cubes to crushed at the rear? (Not the front door panel place.) Sometimes crushed comes out and I don't want that now or ever before. The auger indeed turns "stiffly" but still no fix. The coupling at the back seems in place. Something must indicate when it's all seated correctly without all this guess work. Nothing should be this illusive! Thanks for your help. Oh, what is the long metal piece under the bin for? What is the hole on right rear that a round pointed shape fits into?

Icemaker is making ice but will not dispense. continues to accumulate then over time ice in the bottom of the dispenser will freeze

I can think of two possible problems. The ice has frozen together and will not allow the ice screw to push the ice out the dispenser. Or the motor for the ice screw is broken.
1. Shut off icemaker with lever at icemaker
2. Remove ice container (either throw away ice or save in another container).
3. Put back empty ice container.
4. Leave ice maker off for about an hour.
5. After an hour , check if motor is working by trying to dispense ice. You should not expect any ice but you should hear the motor /auger moving.
A) If you do not hear any thing , you need to get your motor replaced.
B) If you hear the motor , mostlikely you had an ice dam which prevented the ice dispense from working..You can turn you icemaker on.

Water dispenser works, ice maker makes ice but doe not dispense

Remove the ice bucket/container from inside the freezer compartment. Examine underneath at the front of the container to see if ice cubes are lodged between the metal blades. If cubes are caught in this area, they will prevent ice from dropping into the glass/cup.

Icemaker makes shells. Outside is frozen but

Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out.
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.

Kenmore side by side icemaker

Your product is an IDI (In Door Ice the bucket is in the door) or a Non-IDI? By the way, you mention the Ice maker. The thing is that if the ice maker is not runnning then you don't have ice to dispense and obviously the fact that the motor is working or not is irrelevant. So that's why I suppose that the problem is not the ice maker but the trajectory of the cubes from the bucket to outside of the door.

In the Non-IDI sometimes it happens that the safes in the bucket jump the locks were the bucket resides so the auger motor (the one that move the shaft so you get the Ice) is still running but you can't get ice because the bucket is not in the right position. Just try to relocate the bucket.

You can see if the motor is moving the shaft pressing the light switch that is at the top of the freezer. Then dispense, when you press the switch the main board thinks that the door is closed so you can dispense and see if the motor is moving the shaft.

Other failure mode is the flapper door, it depends if the dispenser works with full electronics or if it's an electromechanical dispenser. Full electronics dispenser use a stepper motor to move the flapper door so the failure is that when you press the pad and the flapper door is closing, if you press it again then it get stucked, the motor dispense but the flapper door is closed. With electromechanical dispenser, maybe is the dashpot mechanism.

If any of these solutions couldn't fix your problem please tell me. I think that I can solve this particular problem.

Icemaker works fine, only dispenses water

make sure that the ice shoot is not clogged up with ice or the in the ice basket where the ice goes through. Sometimes the ice can be stuck together and jam and nothing will come out.
