My subzero 650 has melted and refrozen cubes under normal cubes - I have emptied the ice cube tray three times, made sure it is dry before putting it back, and each time there is eventual frozen water buildup. Last night there were normal ice cubes being made and this morning the frozen layer is there once again.

Sometimes ice melts in ice maker. Water drips down and refreezes.

There is a heater built into the ice maker bottom to help release ice cubes from the machine. Under normal conditions the heater only come on when the ice maker starts to run and then jambs against the frozen cubes. When it stalls and jambs against the frozen ice cubes, the heater comes on to melt the cubes enough. I think you have a defective ice maker and the heater is coming on to much or at the wrong time, Since your temps go back to normal with the ice maker turned off, I am almost sure thats your problem.

We accidentally left the freezer door just barely open overnight. The freezer started to thaw somewhat, but we caught the problem before anything had to be thrown out. In other words, there wasn't a lot...

yes ice formed in the bottom of the ice bin locking the auger from turning to dispense ice. Defrost the ice bin and wipe clear of any left over water from the melt.

RS267 Ice is not dispensing

The freezer temp is not cold enough, the ice cubes melted and giot welded together and now the motor will not turn, you have to unplug it, wait until it melt a little take the drawer out and get rid of the old ice, clean the tray, and make sure it is completely dried before putting it back in, use paper towel to dry it.

Slow ice cycle

Are you having any temperature related symptoms, i.e., soft ice cream that appears to have melted slightly and refrozen, soft breads in the freezer, warm or hot outer surfaces anywhere? If cooling is not a problem whatsoever, are any of your ice cubes smaller than normal, or do you have hollow ice cubes; you would be able to crush the cubes in your hand? If either of these pertains to you, you have not enough water coming to the ice maker, due to a faulty water valve not opening completely, or your water source pressure is low. disconnect your water line from the fridge, test pressure of the water line by placing end in a bucket, turning water on. It will be obvious how the pressure is. if pressure is good to really good, you have a bad water valve on the fridge. If pressure is so-so to bad, change source water valve.
If cubes are not small nor hollow, but rather normal full size cubes, just not enough, you probably have an intermittent problem with your icemaker, replace that.

Symptoms: Ice cubes melt, drip then refreeze causing

are you having any cooling problems? take a look at your ice cream, if you have any. does it look like it has melted and refrozen? if so, you have a cooling problem, and that is causing ice to melt, then refreeze. if you have no cooling problems, then you may have a faulty water valve solenoid, or even a faulty icemaker.

Freezer Drawer Stuck

Our 550 bottom freezer drawer froze shut earlier this week and the motor made an unusual sound, like it was working too hard. Two of us eventually were able to open the drawer to find that it had frozen shut due to a leak which filled the ice tray solid and then adhered to the actual door, freezing it shut. We emptied the fridge and freezer, turned the control dials down to 0, but neither the motor nor the light would go off. We finally killed the circuit breaker to get the appliance to shut down. It's cleaned and defrosted and we noticed that the gasket has torn in three places, two on the fridge door and one on the freezer door. The freezer door could be from our tugging, but the refrigerator door is normal wear and tear. We filled the tears with some kind of putty and when it is dry we will start everything up again. This is not the first problem of this nature we have experienced with our subzero 550, but it is the most dramatic. Each previous time we have called a repair man out and he has been unable to fix it.

Ice Tray Freezes & ice builds up around internal workings of ice cube holder

Check and make sure you door seal is tight. Take a dollar bill and place it between the door jam and gasket, close the door and then pull the bill slowly out. It should be rather tight all the way around. So you will have to do several checks all the way around the door. If you have a bad spot call and have them either replace the gasket or adjust the door. The other thing you can do (I have found most if not all manufacturers require this) empty your ice maker once a week. The problem comes from your refer being a self defrost. There is a heater coil that gets as hot as a range element to defrost the evap coil. It is the defrost cycle that causes the ice to melt down a bit. And the defrost cycles every 12 to 24 hours causing the cubes on top to melt down some. So as your bucket fills whatever was on top melts a bit and by the time you are ready to use several layers may be melted causing them to stick together.
