After you turn the set on and then it goes off if your lose the noise as soon as the picture leaves you likely need a light engine. If the noise is there a second or two after the pciture leaves you have a bad color wheel.

Does the noise stop in a short while after you turn the set on? If so you probably have a color wheel with really bad bearings. Since you cannot shut the set off and have to unplug it you probably have a bad DMD module as well. I would suggest you need an optical block assembly which would inlude both of these parts as well as the ballust assembly. If you set is less than 15 months old it is highly likely Samsung will extend your warranty to ge this taken care of if you have a sales receipt.

I would call Samsung back and ask to escalate this to upper management.

It seems like power supply problem. Most possible some electrolytic capacitor at power supply output may have gone out of range.Try replace capacitors of more than 100V.

sir, i think ur lamp is getting faulted by some other component on board.

look for the input given to lamp from the circuit board.

i think the real culprit lies there.

only if r going to look at it you can save your lamp next time.

else it wil become a regular story

  • Anonymous Feb 08, 2008

since its just 1 or 2 months old you better ask for a full replacement from smasung.

the set utself is bad inside.

they have sold you a faulty piece

  • Anonymous Feb 09, 2008

i would suggest a replacement from samsung as the best option..

because without having proper knowledge about your TV you dont take risk of opening it..

if u want to do it further do it at ur own risk

Rca projection tv

The white dots indicate a problem with the optical light engine---Parts for this set are very expensive and my suggestion would be NOT to repair it but replace it.

If you want some more information Google the model with "problems" to see what the common issues are fot this set

My tv mitsubishi wd-60735 turns on for about 2 min. then shuts off and red lamp light turns on,,,The lamp is only 3 months old.. Do I just need to replace bulb again or is it something else???

Don't know if this applys to you but if you have purchased anything but Osram or Philips replacement lamp for your DLP tv then this is probably your problem.. The generic is VERY tempting in this recession but in this case generic is poison to your dlp tv... i have a Mitsubishi 60735 and went thru 2 generic bulbs when my tv kept shutting down on it's own and the lights on front would flash, i could cut it back on for 10 minutes then flicker and shut down again ..well since the bulb was new i thought it may be defective so i got is exchanged for another one ... after all of the post i have seen how much repairs were going to cost on dlp sets no matter what the problem was ..i was ready to chunk the tv out the door when the second lamp was doing the same thing.....!! well a last ditch effort to save my tv before i trashed it or taking it apart to dissect it.. was to buy a brandname lamp ... in my case i purchased a Philips ..it cost twice as much =/ ..i could just return it if it didn't work.. well it was the generic lamps that was causing trouble.. the brandname worked perfectly .. i am just glad the generic lamp didn't do any damage to my TV!!! I have done further research on the generic lamps and realized that the damage it could have done was not worth the money i saved when i purchesed it... Generic is a great deal In some cases (household cleaners, etc..) but in this case GET THE NAME BRAND!!!! the only name brands i know of for these lamps are Philips or Osram/Sylvania.. hope this helps others from this headache. Do your research don't by generic lamp replacements, your DLP set cost to much to risk it.

Chris,

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. Hope this helps!

No picture, siren type noise as restarting

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

Samsung dlp hls6186w, picture has darkened, could it be the lamp or is it the colour wheel??... tv is making sounds...I thought it was the fan, the fan looks okay??? It also shuts down once and a while...

The lamp is the only thing that will cause the picture to go darker. According to the model you have the lamp part number is BP96-01472A. The noise you hear could possibly be the color wheel itself. The way to tell is when you turn off the TV the lamp stays on for about 10 seconds longer. Once the lamp shuts off if that noise goes away then it is a bad color wheel. Any noises past that would be a fan. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
