Hello Mike. Your set is suffering from one of the following: bad high volatge transformer, bad fuse, or a bad starter box. If you are electronically minded and equipped with test equipment you can isolate and check each of these components, otherwise a call to a repair shop for an estimate is the next step. Regards, Joe

Man, unfortunately it could be (in order of likelihood) 1. power supply. 2 main board (mother board). 3. inverter board (this supplies power to the panel) some models have combined the inverter and power supply into 1 board. 4. panel itself.
You can try looking at the power supply looking for swollen caps. electrolytic caps should be flat on top, if you find ones that are rounded on top they are bad.
if the inverter board is seperate you could try unplugging it so as to take it out of circuit. If the set stays on (screen will be black of course) that's your problem.
Some models you can't get the inverter without getting the panel as well, this would make repair cost more than just replacing tv.

Thanks, I will follow your advice!
TV has yellowish VIZIO logo backlight on, as is normal, when TV is off. When the on button is pushed, there is the normal on click, then at first the volume, channel, etc, backlights light up briefly, then all lights go off including the Vizio backlight. After a few seconds, the VIZIO logo yellowish backlight comes back on.
