Scraping/Squeaking noise on recumbent stationary bicycle

I have a ProForm recumbent bicycle which uses magnetic resistance. I have used this bike for over a year w/ no problem. Recently, the bike began to make a squeaking/scraping noise. The pedals turn, but you can feel a little friction accompanied by a short metal-on-metal squeaking/scraping noise. I have stripped the bike of all of its coverings so that I could observe the magnetic wheel and other moving parts, but there is nothing that appears to be causing this noise. I oiled the hubs and other parts that looked like potential culprits, but the noise persists. Oddly enough, when I get off the bike and turn the pedals by hand, there is no noise. But when I climb onto the bike and pedal normally, the noise appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are most likely some sort of bearings inside the wheel hub that are causing this.

No resistance when I pedal the stationary exercise bike

Hi,

I looked into this thinking is must be a simple belt, or tention wheel, but these devices are much more complex than the average exercise machine. See the Recumbent selection here.

It appears that the tentioning device is a magnetic brake.
This would require that it be plugged into a power source and programmed to provide a desired tention.
I've never used one of these so I can't say what kind of programming options there are or where they are found.

Hope this helps.
Richard.

Need a manual for Proform Carb Counter Stationary Bicycle

The exercise bike sounds like the Proform XP70. It has a carb counter feature. Here is the link to the PDF of the manual.
