whenever i hear a humming sound in a dryer it's usually the motor or something caught in the blower wheel stopping the motor from spinning.open the door and see if you can spin the drum.if it spins by hand try this, open the door, push in the door switch with one hand, have someone push the start button while you hold in the door switch and spin the drum by hand helping it move,if it runs you have a bad motor,if it doesn't remove the bottom panel and see if the belt is broke and stuck in the motor but like i say usually it has something to do with the motor not spinning.hope this helps
Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.
I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.
check the blower wheel sometimes objects get caught in it not allowing it to spin. If it is clean open the dryer door push and hold the door switch and push start while it is humming rotate the drum. if it starts to spin then you need a new motor it will run you probably 150 - 200 dollars
Try this, tape the button down press start and give the drum a push to see if it will spin. If you can jump start it that way, you will need to replace the motor.
the noise is coming from the motor, you either have something jammed in the motor or blower wheel stopping the motor from spinning or the motor is bad,try this, open the door, hold the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with your other hand and have someone else hit the start button at the same time, this sometimes starts the motor but the motor still has to be changed out.let me know what you find and send the model number
there is a good chance you have something stuck in the blower motor, you can take a peek down the lint trap with a flashlight, you can also confirm this simply by trying to trun the dryer drum,
try to spin it by hand, if it wont trun, or has a great deal odf resistance then you have a sock stuck
if it does turn easily, then hold the door switch
and try to turn the drum as you hear the hum
if this starts the dryer and all is good, till you let go of the door switch,, well then it sounds like you have a motor issue, a start winding is bad, to be more specific.
Hi,If you hear the hum while you are pushing the start button and when you let off the button the hum stops, you have a notor going bad.
If you can get someone to help you, open the door, hold the door switch in, while someone else holds the start button, you try and turn the drum with your other hand. Sometimes the motor will start but, this only confirms the motor is bad and needs replaced. I hope this helps.
