the wider end fits onto the tub.If you put a long thin screwdriver through the door interlock hole to hold the retaining spring (the stretchy wire type) you will find it will go on easier.
the door interlock has failed and needs too be replaced
you can find this easily changed out part on ebay or from spares suppliers
you usually need to take the top off the machine
power off and open the door and remove the two screws at the lock
reach down and take out the interlock mecha
plug in a new one and put it back and screw it back on
I hope yr going to replace it, not run the machine without the lock. The lock is for safety, if a kid tries to grab clothes when it is spinning it can twist an arm off. So there is a safety concern.
Hi brennanjodi I think your door interlock needs replacing. Turn off the power undo the front of the door gasket and that will get you to the lock mechanism. They're about £20 to replace. Adrian
