Problem with setting up PC mode on my LE40S7 LCD TV

When I have try to call up PC setting mode on the menu button of the tv handset, following the owners instruction book. It does not stay on the sceen long enough to do anything. The screen goes blank after 1 or 2 seconds. Even if I manage to move to an option in the pc setup the screen goes blank.
Also the tv instruction book recommends 1360 x 768 resolution. Unfortunately my laptop does not have this setting is has 1024 x 768 does this mean I cannot connect to the tv?

Hi - I have managed to solve my initial problem, many thanks for your help. To cut it short the problem was my pc monitor settings would not activate dual monitors until suddenly a popup screen asked me if I wanted to activate dual screens and everything fell into place then. My problem now is my tv screen shows a fantastic view of Packard Bell desktop. However by chance I noticed my curser would only appear on the tv if it moved it off the pc screen to the right. To test this I can move my Windows pages right over to the right of the pc screen and it just about shows up on the left hand side of the tv screen. Presumably there is another setting I cannot find to sync the two screens.
Sorry about the delay but it has taken me some time to get to this point.
You will certainly have my acceptance rating.
    Thanks. Patricia.

  • Calahonda Feb 11, 2008

The user manual for the tv says to choose resolution of 1360x768 but my laptop only goes up to 1024x768. When I drag over the windows pages there does not seem to be any definition problem. The tv's pc setup gives options for fine and course tuning (I have used the auto turning function)of picture quality, moving up down or side to side of the picture. This only fine tunes centralisation and is very small movement, auto tuning and reset to factory settings. On the advanced tab of the pc display settings I have reduced the picture size from 96 to 46 but this only makes the image size smaller it doesn't sync the images.
    Many thanks, Patricia

    Hi
I have spent the a good part of this morning getting to grips with my problem and I believe I have cracked it. It appears in dual monitor mode in Windows XP one doubles the monitor size by placing two monitors side by side. I can manage the Windows pages from the laptop and video's etc played in full screen on the tv, or I can have one window on the laptop and a different window on the tv screen (working with two monitors). Now I have got my head round it I am a 'happy bunnie'.
Many thanks for all your help, another problem solved and I will give my rating for you.
    Good luck for the future.
Oh! I am in your part of the world, southern spain - an expat.

  • Calahonda Feb 12, 2008

Thank you for you suggestion. My problem turned out to be a need to configure Windows to accept there was a second monitor. Once that was done there was no problem with pc setup on the tv.

Osd is saying the main menu is locked how do i unlock

Win Tyler,
Information on resolving your locked screen on your LCD is listed below.
In the TV Menu Settings menu you can
select TV Button lock to lock the TV
Menu and the side panel buttons. When
this option is enabled, only the power
button functions. To unlock the TV Menu
and side panel buttons:
1. Press the Menu button on the TV. A message appears stating that the TV is locked
2. While the message is on the TV, press the channel up and volume increase button
simultaneously.
If you are using the DVI connector, you may need to verify the following settings:
Source - The default setting is Auto. The T V automatically detects if a computer (PC) or video
device is being used. If the image does not display correctly, you can select the source, PC or
Video, depending on the device you are using.
Color - The default color space is RGB. If the colors are not displaying correctly, you can change
the setting to YUV.

Apex TV Service Mode

The service menu for this TV may be accessed by holding down the INPUT button on the TV and pressing 2580 on the remote. To navigate the service menu use the arrow keys on the remote. The center Enter button is used to go down into a submenu. The Menu button returns from a submenu. The exit key exits the menu.

There is an option to adjust Over Scan in the Picture settings menu. Set the positions to zero and the size to +100 for both horizontal and vertical. Then set the Sharpness to zero in the Picture Mode menu for each picture mode (optional, but sharpness makes text and sharp lines really ugly if you're using a PC).

I've owned this TV since Feb. 2013 and I've been disgusted with its lack of disable-able overscan and forced to use VGA to get a usable picture. The VGA port finally started going out (flickering colors) and rather than tearing it apart to resolder the VGA connector I tried to find a service manual again. Found one for a different Apex LCD TV but the service code was the same. It's like having a brand new, much better TV now! Overscan is the worst thing the TV industry ever did, it's totally and completely unnecessary on digital, pixel-perfect signals.

How to emove the demo on screen ?

Removing Your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode

First, confirm your TV is in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode:

1. Press the INFO button on your remote control. A list of settings appears.
2. See if the Picture Mode setting is set to Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

There are three methods for removing your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode. If the first method does not work, try the second or third method.
Method 1

To remove your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode, follow these steps:

1. Press the Volume button on the side panel of your TV. If your TV does not have a side panel, press the Volume button on the front panel. The TV displays the volume bar.
2. Press the Menu button on the side panel of your TV for about seven seconds. Again, if your TV does not have a side panel, press the Menu button on the front panel. If Dynamic or Dynamic Mode is displayed on the screen, your TV has been removed from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

Method 2

1. Press the Volume button on your remote.

Note: You may want to press the INFO button on your remote again to confirm you TV is no longer in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

Method 3

1. Press and hold the Volume button on your TV. The TV displays the volume bar.
2. As you are holding the Volume button, press the Menu button on the side panel of your TV for about seven seconds. Again, if your TV does not have a side panel, press the Menu button on the front panel. How do i unlock the key--- display on my Provision television that is operated by a beko 12.1 remote control.I also need the service code for some Geometric adjustment.

Service Menu Access Procedure To access the service menu, press and hold the handset sound mute button whilst pressing the TV's front panel 'Menu' button (under the front panel cover on the TV). The up/down channel buttons on the handset step through the options and the left/right buttons change the data values. Turn the TV off to get out of service mode and DO NOT touch any other handset buttons whilst in service mode. Service menu access is also similar for many other Toshiba large-screen TV's so this procedure may work on other Toshiba TV's - even those sold outside the UK.

Maybe this list can help you, click here for a list of each widescreen Toshiba TV Service Menu adjustment with details on the purpose of each.

The factory settings of each service menu option will be entirely different on every TV manufactured, due to component, tube and scan coil tolerances, so don't under any circumstances adjust your TV's settings to my factory default settings or your TV's picture will probably look awful! The factory settings are provided out of interest - the useful part of this document is actually the definition of each service menu option. You will see that some geometry settings are duplicated for each screen mode such as 'Cinema' and 'Subtitle'. This could, for example, help resolve a geometry problem that's present just in one screen mode.

I hope help you with this.
