GE Front load washer WBVHB240EWW. Approx 5 years old. Is not spinning water out of clothes. At end of most cycles clothes are sopping wet. Only speed wash and drain/spin seem to work correctly. Gets stuck at the spin during or after the rinse cycle. Thanks!

The fault could be with the drain out pump blocked or restricted in some way. Un-plug machine from electrical wall socket.

A small panel at rear of machine reveals the pump, pull out the two pipes (plastic clips hard to get off, slide them sideways), remove wire and un-clip pump from base of machine by lifting locking tab and sliding to the left, pump can then easily be cleaned. Of course be prepared for a lot water, junk overflow; careful it does not fall on wires.

Possibility you might find a hose which is blocked by a stopper; this could be to drain out all excess water before you attempt the filter cleaning. These pipes (hoses) were added later to machines to reduce mopping up jobs. The fact that machines do not give you simple hints is: companies want you to keep buying new washers, and keep their factories running.........

The clothes are wet after spinning When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these: Motor coupler Spin cycle Siphoning Water-inlet valve Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning: If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine. If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely. Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component. Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician. Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess. Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Front loading washer - water is not spinning out, clothes are sopping wet

Hi- Depending on the model the drain pump filter may be clogged; sometimes the drain pump impellers get damaged as well and do not pump out the water efficiently. If it seems to be coming up to full spin speed it is likely an issue with the pump. I'd run a Rinse cycle without any clothes in it and see if all the water drains out. The washer will not got up to full spin if it senses that there is too much water in the clothes (too heavy) to prevent damage to the machine. Probably best to get a Tech to come out an look at it. Good luck.

The spin cycle spins very slowly and the clothes come out extremely wet (drippping wet). How do I troubleshoot this problem?

The clothes are wet after spinning When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. How can i fix my washer myself?

The washer will not ever completely drain according to Maytag. A certain amount of water stays in the outter tub for balancing the machine for final hyper-spin. However if the machine is not spinning all of the water out and your clothes come out sopping wet....read the long thread I typed out to another person earlier.....it's about 2-3 questions up on the same topic

Beach towels sopping wet after machine done spinning

The washer will not proceed into high speed spin with just two large beach towels in the basket. The washer is detecting a out of balance condition, and remains in low speed spin. Solution? Try adding more items into the basket. With only two towels, there is not enough mass to balance the washer. With more clothing or towels, there is more items for the machine to balance, and reach full speed spin.

The only other thing that could cause this, would be if the water in the tub is not completely draining in the time allowed. This washe does not have a cleanout, and checking for an obtruction in the pump is difficult. I would go with the more clothes first, then see.

Washer turns slow loaded or not

front load machines will normaly spin slow on first part of spin cycle this helps distribute load evenly before hi speed spin also if load is extermely off balance ..a large towel with load of light fabrics will never spin to full speed due to off balance produced by wet towel hi speed spin is normaly acheived in last 3-4 min of spin cycle

Washer won't spin fast, only slow

tyr removing the lower acees panel from the uint , ther is a "button trap" located there to catch debris from entering pump assy, chances are its clogged and if it cant drain all the water it wont go into high speed spin, also you MUST use an HE detergent. HE detergent specifically designed for front loading washers

GE Front Loading Washing Machine seems to be holding water....

The high speed spin of a front load washer should normally do a good job of getting squeezing out the water but if there is an oversudsing condition that makes it hard for the drain pump to operate then the suds and water will just stay there. First make sure there is no actual clog in the drain line then run a load with no soap or detergent and see what happens. It's always better to use a low suds detergent with this type of machine
