Wharfedale LCD3210AF Television- Digital problems!
Hi,
Our TV has just ran out of warranty- Typical!!
We are having problems with our TV. We are unable to change any digital channels. The digital TV is stuck on the last channel we were watching. We are unable to use the remote control when on 'digital' except to change the volume or mute the TV, nothing else works. We are able to switch back to terrestial channels when the remote control works normally! I have tried to manually use the buttons on the side of the actual television. On 'digital' again I cannot change channels, just the volume! on terrestrial channels, I can change channels and the volume using the buttons on the television .
I have replaced the batteries in the remote control, but that made no diffference! Any ideas would be gratefully recieved! Please, please, please help!
Best wishes,
Mandy

Well there is still a problem with the TV. I found that by unplugging the power cable that the digital channels worked. But, when I turned the TV on today the problem had returned, I had to take out the power cable again!

Not focused at your model pacifically. Typical problems like yours are happening to lots of other flat screen TVs in other brands.
Try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself. If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route. If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
Replacing the board would be WAY too expensive just to restore the
sound on the tv's speakers. You would be much better off getting a
receiver or Home theater in a box setup.
I do know about this machine but as a general thing with electronic items :-
With the item turned off press and hold its power on button for 3 to 5 seconds before release or that in combination with either a channel change or volume button, so say power+channel up or power+channel down etc I can only hope this overides the lock out, other than that its say two buttons on a remote etc but this I do not know.
The TV switches off because a device called safety switch that keeps turning
your TV off because an internal fault, such as a defective component or
a wrong voltage is detected.
When is like that we say the tv is in protected mode.
Start unplugging TV power cord for one or two hours (it is called hard
reset), this will drain power from tv and seset internal circuit, and
sometimes can clear the error message, if the fault was only temporary.
If the problem does not go, then you have to troubleshoot the problem,
probably some component inside the tv is faulty and may need to be
replaced. If you want to do it yourself is better to buy the service
manual. Here you can buy parts and service manual.
If you need to call for repair you can use the phone number listed on the TV owner manual.
Unplugged for over 1 hour. No change. My remote will not do anything except turn it on and off. It's stuck on channel 31.1 digital
