I canceled download of photos from my sony cyber-shot 1080; now can't download them. How do I retrieve the pictures and get them to download to my PC?

If they still show when you look for them in the camera, they're probably retrievable. Plug in the camera, but instead of using the camera software on your computer, look at your Computer for the camera, or removable HD listed with the C: drive and other devices, locate the DCIM folder, find the pics, drag where you want them.

I cant find the DCIM folder in my polaroid camera

The camera will create that folder on a memory card when you use it. Do you mean you can't find that file on the card or when you plug in the camera with no card in it?
If it isn't on the card, in the menu options of the camera you can format the card and the internal camera memory, save your pictures first of course.
Formatting the internal memory of the camera and taking a picture should restore the DCIM folder.
And make sure the SD card is unlocked, there is a little slide switch on the side of it.

FORMATTING WILL ERASE EVERYTHING SAVE YOUR PICS FIRST!

If you cannot find the DCIM folder you may still have pics stuck on the card and/or camera, look into file recovery before you format anything.

I also do file recovery by the way.

Hi i have a Sony Cyber Shot digital camera model no is DSC W55 and i am using Scandisk M2 2 GB. When i plug it in via USB to a computer it shows shortcut file for DCIM & MSIC. Is my card infected?...

the card has been used previously in a cellphone, the MSIC folder is the music folder and the dcim is your actual pictures.save all your pics in a folder on your desktop, disconnect your camera and format the card using the settings menu of your camera, there you goa clean memory card:))

Need a free download for my sony cyber shot dsc-w55 to download pictures on my computer

You do not need any Driver or Software to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

1. Set the USB Connection or Transfer mode setting in the Camera menu to Mass Storage or Normal .

2. Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable or any USB cable.

3. The Computer will recognize the Camera (make sure that the recording media containing the pictures (Memory Stick) is inserted in the Camera).

4. Click the Start button and then click the "My Computer" icon (for XP Operating System and for Vista or Windows 7 it will be "Computer" icon).

5. In the "My Computer" or "Computer" window, click the icon that represents the Camera.

6. Click the "DCIM" folder and drag it to the desktop screen of the Computer to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

However, you may download the supplied Picture Motion Browser software for the Camera from this Link.

DCIM folder turned to a file after windows scandisk fixed a reported problem

Hi, I don't know if you'll get this message, but it's worth a shot. I am having the same problem and I wanted to see if you ever found out how to get your pictures back. I don't have the same camera as you but the same thing happened to me. I'm on Windows 7 though now. Thanks

Unable to view the pictures folder

Hi, I got the solution for myself. Initially I have enabled to view the hidden folder option and even then I was not able to see the folder, then later I have disabled the options Hide Extensions for Known file types and Hide Protected Operating system files. Then I could see the folder and able to retrieve the photos. Once I have taken my photos I have formatted my MMC card and it is working normally.

Sonya cyber-shot 4.1mx

I would first transfer the pictures to your pc [my pictures]. keep the camera plugged in and open my computer look for the drive that says removeable drive or sony, whatever it might be titled. open the drive up and you will see the folder with the data from your memory stick. copy the pics in my pictures and paste them in that folder. That should do the job for you. The easiest method though is by using a card reader. same steps as above just easier to identify the folders. let me know how it works for you.
