My Sub Zero 642 is freezing my fruits and vegetables. I have not changed the temperature settings. What's up? I did unplug the unit to reset it but it keeps having the same problem.

Usually a bad thermostat, but it can be a freon system problem, or a problem with your evaporator fan motor. These are problems that a good Sub Zero technician needs to repair, especially if you have a system problem, since a system problem is under a 6 to 12 year warrantee. Make sure that the company you call is a Sub-Zero warrantee company. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Sub-Zero a hallowed name in refrigeration, and the 642 side-by-side refrigerator/freezer unit is a landmark Yeah, it's that impressive. Dual refrigeration uses two compressors and three evaporators, I can tell you to never expect less than $300 for calling anyone to your home!

Service light flashing as well as EC. I have cleaned the condenser coils and reset the unit...still no change. Also, its getting a little warm in there %$

Food (vegetables, fruits) on the refrigerater side freezing

Your model has a control damper inside the vent. The damper opens and closes with changes in temperature. It has a pig tail spiral thermostat on the side and if it goes bad the door sticks open or closed. Sometimes it is just frost but you will need to get to it. Has the ambient temp around the unit been going up? Depending on what refrigerant you have here the pressure temp relationship will change in the system, also when you add foodstuff, and again when you open the door.

Sub-Zero service manual

Here is a link to the error codes. If there is a fault condition these should be flashing on the display:

One this to try is a hard reset: unplug and wait for a few minutes and re-plug back in. Sometime this resets the service condition and will then display the error codes.

Ice is displayed when the ice maker is turned on. Press the ice on/off and it should turn off.
