I have a panasonic lumix DMC-ZS1 - when I try and take a video... a symbol flashes & it does not record (but seems to take a still?) The symbol looks like a sim card - hope you can help!
It might be telling you that the card you have in the camera isn't fast enough to keep up with the demands of a video recording. You need to buy a more expensive card with a faster speed rating.
Deleting pics from the card doesn't open up space on the card. It just gives permission for the camera to overwrite the data with new data. You actually need to format the card in the camera. Also, you need a class 6 or above with a write speed of 10 MB or faster to record video in HD, WVGA, or VGA. 8 GB is just the size of the card, not the speed.

Thanks for your suggestion. It's an 8GB SD card... think it's a pretty good one (I'm not v.techy). I even deleted all photos to see if it was the memory!
