My discs arent spinning. its as if the playstation isnt reading the disc. i have the playstation 2 slim.

Is that the only disc you seem to be having the problem with?? If so try getting the disc repair kit and using that. I had the same problem with mine but it was only some of the discs. The ps2 slim can be very sensitive and even the slightest defect in a disc will cause it not to recognize there is even a disc there.

seems like you need to go buy a lens cleaner from bestbuy or something. Run it repeatedly untill it works. sometimes it takes a while. But it will work after. please rate@

Sounds like the laser may have gone bad on your system, try this - use compressed air to clean out the system, where the laser is, and other openings on the device. Then clean your game disc with a CD/Game Disc cleaner (bought at any gaming stores), try this. If this doesnt fix the problems then i would contact SONY and have them replace your system or atleast maybe they could try to fix it. Good Luck!

Well if there is nothing with the lens, i am afraid you're ps2's are garbage now. Your best choice is to sell it to some one, or throw it away.

Sounds like the laser has gone out. The unit will not try to spin unless the laser can see the disc. A new laser can be picked up on ebay for less than $10

There are THREE reasons that a Slim PS2 will not read discs. I willstart from most common and end at the least common (almost rare)problem.

1. A bad laser. Lasers labor on Playstation 2 [and all other videogame] consoles. They eventually fail, especially if you use your PS2as a DVD player. You can find Slim PS2 lasers at the followingwebsite. They are pretty simple to replace:

2. There are two "lid closed" sensors on the Slim Playstation 2. Theylet the PS2 know that the lid is shut and it should scan for a disc. Sometimes one or both of these sensors can become broken. It doesn'treally happen by itself... usually if someone drops the console, one orboth of the sensors can break or become dislodged.

3. A Bad Motherboard: This is rare. We mostly see this if someoneinstalled a mod chip into the system and it eventually fails.

OK. First of all, put any disc in and turn on the PS2. Push the spot shown here down with something about the size of the TV end of the AV cable.

1. This keeps the disc from spinning when the cover is open.
2. push this down while following the instructions from the first pic. Does the disc work?
3. There's usually a small object that pushes #2 down. Chances are it broke off.

This piece here is what broke off on my PS2 as seen in the previous image. If you can find some way to glue it back on, you should be back in business.

Try to use a cd cleaner , could be just clean if this do not solve your problem let me know your optic lens coul'be bad depending on how many hrs of use it has . thanks
