Door Release Button not working on Panasonic Microwave NN-T664SFT
I have a Panasonic Microwave oven model NN-T664SFT. The Door Release Button is malfunctioning in that to open the door I must press the button very hard and deep into the button cavity.
Re: Door Release Button not working on Panasonic...
The problem I had experienced with the Door not opening easily will be resolved by removing the micowave oven top cover with a tamper proof torx head, replacing the door switch and reinstalling the top cover.

Don't order a new button. Here's what I did. I have had many issues with my Panasonic microwave ovens - the button more than once. I even ordered two new buttons from a reliable source and one of the boxes had the wrong button inside. Today, instead of ordering ANOTHER button, I fixed it simply with a bolt and washer. Precisely: the button is built with two hooks, two prongs, and a central "tube". I used a #10 phillips head machine screw (bolt) 1/2" - 3/4" long and a #8 washer (plus Loctite: optional). You need to open the washer's hole slightly to fit over the #10 bolt. Then simply put the button and spring on the bezel and install the bolt from the rear. The washer will trap the bolt in the bezel, but pass through the frame to operate the latch.
Take side panels off and press the button through from the back, my husband has just done this tonight on our Panasonic microwave model NN-ST477 as the door would not open. He found a piece of plastic like a hook had snapped off. The door now opens and functions normally. Took about 30 minutes to do . If and when it becomes stuck again we know that we will need a new replacement button. Hope this helpskind regardsChristine
Here you can find what you need for a very similar model

I have the NN-T994 SFR model and it had a switch that was staying depressed. I removed the screws to (in my case) the stainless steel cabinet, removed the cabinet and unhooked the wires to lay it aside. Found that the switch was cracked or broken, glued it back exactly as it was, then put the cabinet back on and it fixed it! Now about a year later, I have another problem...oh well. Hope this works on yours.
Our technician suggest that there may be a problem with the Inverter Board in this model, which is something that would need to be looked at by a Service Center.
