Tip & How-To about Global Star Software TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 (12358) for PC
VBR (Constant quality)
Used to make high quality clips no matter the file Compared to VBR (Average bitrate) this mode generates a bigger file but insure the best picture quality control possible.
VBR (Average bitrate)
Encodes using the VBR bitrate control mode, allowing for a smaller final output file size but requiring a longer processing time.

CBR (Constant bitrate)
This is the Usual encode mode for most commercial DVD.
Because the encoding process is streamlined this mode allows a fast encoding but creates relatively big file due to poor optimization. This mode is usable when file size is not a constraint. Encodes using the CBR bitrate control mode, allowing for faster output but without bitrate allocation optimization, resulting in a bigger file size and possible picture quality degradation in scenes with a large amount of motion.
