Philips Model 50PL9126D Turn TV on and after a few secons the picture goes black. sound ok. Two red lights show. one is a bulb and the other looks like a thermometer. These two lights are on each side of the blue power light.

Hello

As far as the lamp stays lit for a few seconds, all other voltages comes to the lamp and inverter board are OK. If the lamp has reached its life time, this type of fault can occur.

Need a lamp in my philips 50PL9126D/37 TV
Unplug unit and remove lower back panel should be 2 screws on each side and a few across the middle. Pull panel back and you should see a black box with metal folding handle. Remove the two left screws and pull out.

Do I need a new lamp?
99% chance your lamp needs to be replaced. Prices are in $120 -180 range. Search for "50PL9126D/37 lamp". they are available with or Without cage. Version with cage is preferred because it will be easier to install it.

Check to make sure all the ventilation opening on the tv arent plugged. if not, then you will have to make sure all the fans inside the tv are working properly.
