My dryer makes a constant loud, high-pitched, squeaking noise when running - it sounds like it is rubbing somewhere and needs WD-40, but I have no idea where...it has only recently started doing this.
The above link shows pictures of a GE/hotpoint/rca type dryer. I posted it because those dryers make the squeal noise you described. You must get the drum out to replace that bearing.

Common Car Noises and Their Likely Causes
Noise
More Details
Likely Cause
Fixing It
Clicking noise while turning
Starts faint, gradually becomes more noticeable until very loud
Failed outer CV joint (constant velocity joint) due to torn boot (most likely) or old age
Replace either the whole axle assembly (recommended) or the outer CV joint
Water pump noises
Difficult to diagnose because of water pump's location
Noise usually caused by damage to the bearings in failed water pump
Only cure is replacing it. If possible do it at the same time as a timing belt replacement to cut down on labor costs
Squeak or squeal from an engine belt
Loud, high-pitched squeak or squeal
Belts either need adjustment or replacing
If belts only squeak when damp, they probably just need adjustment. If they squeak constantly, they probably need to be replaced
Exhaust heat shield noises
Rattle that you hear when car is idling
Damaged heat shield
Replace heat shield

Hello Robin, thank you for your post!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire dryer is making a loud high pitched squeaking noise. This noise could be coming from your belt, motor, or spider arm. In order to find out which component might need to be replaced you would need to disassemble the dryer. We would recommend having a professional technician out to perform a proper repair. Improper disassembly of the dryer could result in personal injury or a problem with the dryer later in its life cycle. I hope that this information is helpful to you. -Matt
No need to take the bottom off - the top, front, and back come off - if the noise is a rather high pitched squeak the pads on the drum are worn out, if it sounds like a squeak but more metallic/raspy sound check the motor bearings, also check the drive belt.
bad drum bearing, bad drum teflon pads or both possibly
or both possibly or in combination the belt could need replacing
& if your not sure get a service tech so you dont do more damage
All dryers have to have a way of allowing the tumbler (that's the thing you put the clothes in) to turn freely, not all of them are the same tho, some use bearings, some use slides, others use rollers. Over time these rollers will need to be oiled, the slides will get thin and start metal to metal contact causing a noise, The rear bearings will then start to make their way to china and cause the tumbler to rub into the heating element and OUCH! These things will cause the motor to prematurely DIE! Its best to examine the dryers, rollers, and slides when you first hear the noise, but who does?
If they are wearing down, they may squeak, and some brakes have a
metallic part that will come in contact with the rotor when the wear
gets to a certian point making an awful squeaking sound telling you
that mabe you should change 'em soon, eh
