Philips DVP3020 does not support popular vidoe formats such as DivX / xvid / mp4. so if you download movies from the internet and burn to a DVD, chances are it will not work. this philips player is very basic and can only play regular DVDs, VCDs and audio CDs. that is why it is cheap. you should try Philips DVP 3010 or 5140, even better the 5960.
I would guess that it's an incompatible disk format. If your burning software allows you to pick different types check the Philips manual for a compatible format
Try using the password 136900. If this works for you, then using your remote, access the general setup menu and choose the Disc Unlock option.
Hope this helps!!
I am assuming that your lens cleaner is for CD as well.
Although identical, CDs & DVDs store data completely differently, which means DVD players need two lasers to read both formats.
It sounds like the DVD laser has failed on your player, which is why it will still play your lens cleaner.
Unfortunately the cost of replacing the laser outweighs the value of the player.
The DVP3020 has been replaced by the DVP3120 which is far more reliable.
The DVP3120 with a multi-region modification can be bought for £17.99 from CheapestElectrical.
