You do not need a separate filter. The unit already has a filter that will keep the glass in the cannister.

No you do not need the filter to pick up glass. If you are vacuuming up dust/dirt then use the filter.

So I just got my shop vac second hand and it has no manual and no basic instructions were given either. Does it actually need a bag when using it? I feel like something may be broken or missing....

Shop vacs are multiple purpose with dry/wet intake. So typically you don't need a bag. You just open the tank and empty it like a big trash can. They will have a large filter In the tank that needs to be cleaned/replaced.

Shop Vac lid will not securely latch. 1

Are you sure that the filter is pushed all the way to the bottom of the container? Just take it out and put it back and make sure the filter retainer is gently turned all the way.

I have a NUTONE central vac, when I turn on the power, It sounds like its grinding glass and doesnt suction. Could it be that broken glass got caught in the motor and all I need to do is clean it, or is...

More likely it's something in the fan. However, I suggest taking it to a vacuum repair shop to make sure. Something could have got into the fan system and is making a racket, but the motor itself won't crunch up glass.

It won't pick up. I cleaned all of the filters. what next?

I would try changing the belt. A worn, stretched or broken belt can cause the vacuum to not pick up well. Here is a link to the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

The filter case that sits on top of the vacuum has broken. The prongs that hold it on the the vacuum have broken on one side and it will not stay on

This is a propriatary part. You will need to get a new filter cover for the vac from an AERUS Electrolux dealer or repair shop. The vac can run in this condition and your filter will be fine.

Broken canister latch
Posted by nestara on May 17, 2008
The little plastic latch that holds the canister in place (the lower part that is recessed) is broken. I need to find a new part to replace it. I cannot seem to find one so far...most sites just offer replacement bags/filters....etc.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Sorry you are having a problem with the replacement parts for your vacuum but if you contact the Eureka Factory Service line of which I will list below, they will either supply you with the part or give you a contact factory dealer that will get you the part and also you may as for a schematic or and owner’s manual in order to see how to repair the part. If you have further questions, feel free to contact your local vac dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
