It sounds that the standby light blinks, and the set do not turn on. These blinks are fault indications. Fromm these number of blinks, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit part inside. Count these blinks. How many occurs at one time switch ON. Count it for at least to times switch on. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this site.
I have a 60" Sony Wega LCD projection...not sure if it will work for your model, but ours would not turn on this morning and was blinking the 3 light error code. Which indicated that the lamp cover was not on. The lamp cover was on, but when you remove the lamp cover there is a small metal piece below where the screw goes to tighten the cover on. That piece needs to be pushed in so the sensor will not go off. This saved us potentially many hundreds of $$ in calling a repair person which is what all forums and threads suggested we do. Hope this helps.
You have what is commonly known as a shutdown problem. It's an overload in one of the internal circuits. It needs to be looked at by a professional tv reapir person.
If TV model is Sony KV-32HS420 then mostly it requires to replace 2 ICs on DZ board, let me know if you can replace ICs on circuit board and know about TV repair to provide you more technical info. Thanks.
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ http://homenol.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

KV32hs500 tv won't turn on. Standby light blinks 7 times, stops and then 7 more times, etc.. The tv will usually come on after about 2 hours or so of being off. Plays fine when on but once it gets turned off the problem happens again. Any suggestions? T.V. is 5 years old.
