yes you can surely have the same XP home edition on your laptop too .
And for the installation thing as you are saying that you are not a whiz ,you dont mind installation at the vendor's place .It won't cost you much difference as installing it urself without knowing much can do much harm.

U can install the windows in laptop also.. But with one condition that u do not connect the laptop to the internet.. If u want to connect means u have to turnoff the automatic updates in ur computer.. My best suggestion is u buy a laptop with preloaded OS.. Because Windows XP home edition will not support some options.. Better u buy a preloaded laptop..
