or you can try to set the clock manually, do this:

press [FUNCTIONS] on the remote while unit is on, to bring up the setup menu, scroll to 'OTHERS' look for 'CLOCK' or 'CLOCK SET' option, highlight it, click it, set the clock. Press [ENTER/OK] to access the date hour minute, etc., then press the relevant remote arrow buttons to select correct time/date, then press [ENTER/OK] to store the current setting. Then press [RETURN] to exit the setup. Clock is now set (this model does not offer automatic clock adjustment for daylight saving).

I called GE directly and they said there was no option to silence the key pad on this phone. (I think I'll return it).

You will need to reset the Clock/Radio's microprocessor. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio and remove the internal battery (CR2430). Let the Clock/Radio set without any power source for at least 2 hours. Then put the internal battery back in the Clock/Radio and plug it in to the a/c outlet. Test to see if the Clock/Radio functions have returned to normal. If the function have not returned to normal, you will need to replace the internal battery. Then let the Clock/Radio again set with out power for a period of at least 2 hours. after a 2 hour period, put the new battery in the Clock/Radio and Plug it into the a/c outlet. Test the functions to see if the microprocessor has reset to normal operation. If you are still having a problem with the Clock/Radio's operations , you will have to give the Emerson customer support a call. The Telephone number for the Customer support is 1-800-898-9020. You can call them between the hours of 7am-5pm CT. Give them the make and model number of your Clock/Radio and ask them for assistance with your problem. I hope this information helps you fix the problem with the alarm in the Clock/Radio.

There is a button marked "ANS ON/OFF" right on the base to control the answering machine function. The display shows "--" when answering is off, otherwise it shows the number of messages.

The manual says you can delete messages one at a time from the handset, or all at once or one at a time from the base.

Assuming you mean JVM1870 you can press the Options pad repeatedly until something about "Idioma" (language) appears, then press 1 for English.

Another first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again. It may default to English.

Sorry it took so long to answer your question about the Clock/Radio. This look like a problem with the Clock/Radio's Microprocessor. You will need to reset the microprocessor by removing all power sources to the microprocessor. This means removing the Clock/Radio from the A/C power source and removing the internal battery (CR2430). After removing all the power sources from the Clock/Radio, let the Clock/Radio set for a period of about 3 hours. This will let the power completely drain from the microprocessor and reset it to the factory settings. You can then reinsert the internal battery and plug the Clock/Radio into the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio should have reset and the functions returned to normal operations. If The Clock/Radio functions have not returned to normal. You will need to let the Clock/Radio's microprocessor drain off the power again and put a new internal battery (CR2430). Then test the Clock/Radio's functions again. The Clock/Radio functions should have returned to normal operation. If you are still having problems getting the Clock/Radio to return to normal operation.
