I have a Dell 300cn and the printer asks me to change the black toner. I did this, but it still gives me this messege, and I cannot use the printer because it keeps telling me to replace the black toner. How can I fix this?
Thanks
I think the following instructions are quite clear. In any case, before giving an inappropriate rating pleas contact us. Thanks for trying rating should be used only for unhelpful solutions and I do not think these here are the cases. Please follow the instructions from point six:
6 - Connect the printer to power and turn it on
7 - The toner cartridge carrier rotates and then stops. After confirming
the Insert Black Toner (K) message, open the front door.
8 - Hold the tape on the protective cover and gently pull it forward to
remove the cover from each cartridge slot. You only have to remove the
cover from each toner cartridge slot the first time you use your printer.
Toner will be present on the roller.

10 - Lift the tab up 90 degrees and pull the toner seal straight off, keeping it
parallel with the toner cartridge.

snaps into place and then push down the handhold to lock the cartridge
in place.
12 - Close the front door. The toner cartridge carrier rotates to the next
empty slot. When the color of the newly inserted cartridge appears on
the display, followed by the Insert message, insert the next toner
cartridge. Repeat steps 6-11 until all cartridges are instdell 3000cn Printer - c1e2f78.jpg>

Hope it had been helpful, let me know if you need further support
Did you remove properly the plastic stripe attached to the toner? if you do not do this operation properly the toner will not be recognised.
I am not an user level, and sure I am not the only qualified engineer here. Can you describe exactly which error returned the printer to tell you there is no toner.
Many thanks
I dont see any further comment from you. I assume your problem is solved. If not bear in mind the following:
ensure that you installed all toners properly, removed lid, shaked them pushed them back in place properly. Eventually remove all of them and put them in place.
ensure that the error messg you are receiving is regarding the toner, and not for example asking to change drum etc.
If you are sure that new toners have been fitted properly then you may need to change the cartridge toner smartchip. It can be ordered from dell. It costs around $20 in US.

Hi this adds,
Try removing the toner again, do not place the toner yet. Now turn your printer ON, let the printer initialize and wait the expected error. Now open the cover wherein you insert the toner. Take a look with the notch lock or sensor if properly placed and clean respectively. Close the cover and let the printer initialize again. If the problem still persist, please consider checking the sensors by cleaning the contacts or connectors.
If there's a need to reset the printer at maintenance mode please do it.

The most likely problem si the Toner sensor for the black toner needs to be replaced. it can be found below. If you want to try to replace it yourself I will see if i can locate the howto for it, I have not changed one on your model I believe it has the rotation drum so it may be a little more of a challege then the 3110 that I use

Maybe the cartridge slot needs to be clean. or ink was dried inside the cartridge and can't recognize the toner wether its empty or full, by the tonner sensor.

The problem is not the toner. I have tried numerous times to replace the toner. The only problem is the error messege that THINKS i need to change the black toner, when i dont really need to, and it is preventing me from thinking. Can you hel me to fix it?
