You've got a new computer. All your music and videos are on your iPod and you'd like to populate you new iTunes library from it. Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

To transfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need to download software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

1. Download and Install TouchCopy from http://www.touchcopy.com. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop.
3. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopy may start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
4. Select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want to select all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left and click on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar.

In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars, notes and iPhone SMS.

When you are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, use iTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content to it.

Here's a YouTube video that guides you through how to use TouchCopy

ITunes is really a good choice for you to copy music from iPod to Windows 10, and this is a simple way for transferring the purchased music. Let's check out the detailed steps.
1. Connect your iPod into computer Windows 10 with USB cable and launch the latest iTunes on your computer Windows 10.
2. Head to the iTunes Store and select "Authorize This Computer". Then fill in the Apple ID of yourself to buy the music.
3. Click on "File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from 'device name' " in the panel of iTunes.

4. Find the iTunes media folder on your computer Windows 10. By default, the exported music will be saved at C:Users/Administrator/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media. Then you can enjoy the music transferred from your iPod on computer Windows 10.

This solution is quite easy, but you can only transfer the purcahsed music with this method. If you want to transfer music from iPod to computer Windows 10 thoroughly (ie. to transfer all music), you can try the following two methods.

How to Copy songs from your iPod to your PC in Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac

-- Connect the iPod with your PC. Close iTunes if it opens up automatically after connecting iPod.

-- Go to Control Panel-> portable Media Devices/devices and printers-> Double click on your iPod or right click and select "Browse Files" option.

-- Navigate to the iPod_control folder/Music Folder.

-- Select all the folders over there and copy all the folders and paste it on your hard drive or directly into iTunes. If nothing is visible then go to Control Panel -> folder options -> View Tab-> Show hidden file/folder/drives.

-- The iPod music folder structure is very strange, however if you copy the folder content into iTunes you can arrange/organize the music files by selecting "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized". You can do this by in iTunes Edit menu-> Preferences -> Advanced tab-> check Keep iTunes Music Folder organized.

How to transfer music/video from iPod to PC/iTunes 9

Anyone who has seen an iPod will understand the basic concept behind the design of the iPod touch: a 3.5-inch There are plenty of reasons why you want to transfer your music/video from iPod to iTunes or PC. For example, you may want to make backup your iPod music/video in case of hard drive crash, to retrieve iPod music/video when you accidentally deleted a song or video from your hard-drive, to share your music/video with your friend, to use your iPod with different or more than on computer, or to copy music/video to your new iPod.

Apple's iTunes really does work when it pulls iTunes purchased content off your iPod. The new iTunes 9 makes it easier to share music/video, movies, TV shows, and more. With Home Sharing, you can browse the iTunes libraries of up to five authorized computers in your house, import what you like, and automatically add new purchases made on any of the computers to your own library.

The iTunes 9 is nice for sharing the iTunes purchased content, but how to share the rest of your content of iPod with your friend, you'll need some additional software. There are a lot of programs that can transfer iPod content to iTunes 9 and PC. But from the point view of both functionality and simplicity, there is an iPod music/video Transfer which works well with all models of iPods including the latest iPod Touch 3G and iPod Nano 5G. Let's find it out.

Cannot play most music and also indicating invalid file format, open fail, decode error what should i do and can i make it play musics when copied onto de ipod

Most times, people often make the mistake of copying music files direct to the memory of the ipod device.
If you do this, you might be able to detect the songs but your ipod will not play the songs as it may not recognize their format.
For you to copy music files to your ipod, you would need to download the itunes program and install it to your computer.
With this installed, you can connect your ipod to your computer and open itunes. It would be displayed under your itunes program and you can then copy your music files using itunes by dragging them and dropping them on the name of your ipod as it is shown on the left hand side of the itunes program.
If after doing this, you still have the same problem, you can use your itunes to format the ipod and put the songs afresh.
Hope this helps you? Please comment for more information

Hello, I have a desktop PC an a laptop at home, I have itunes on my desktop and just installed it on my laptop yesterday. I want to get all my music onto my laptop itunes. Is there a way to import my music...

If you have an iPod, then use iTunes on your desktop to load up your iPod with your iTunes music.

Then, use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod content onto your laptop or straight to iTunes. TouchCopy lets you copy all your music, video, photos, contacts, notes, calendars, games and more from your iPod.

To copy your iPod music using TouchCopy, you will need to...
1. Download and install TouchCopy on your laptop. TouchCopy works with all iPod types and the iPhone. There are free PC and Mac downloads available from here
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy

2. Ensure that iTunes is closed before connecting your iPod. Then start TouchCopy and connect your iPod. TouchCopy will have fixed your iTunes preferences so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.

3. Use TouchCopy to copy all your iPod content to your laptop hard drive or straight into iTunes.

4. You can then use iTunes to re-sync your iPod, which will re-load your iPod with all your music and let you add new content to it too.

Computer and ipod

The exclamation mark next to a title in iTunes means that iTunes cannot locate the song associated with that title (original file cannot be found). The cause for this is an incorrect setting of iTunes preferences when copying iPod songs.
Before copying your iPod songs, setup your iTunes preferences as follows
  • Open iTunes preferences (in the Edit menu)
  • Select the Advanced tab.
  • Make sure the box next to "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is checked.
  • Click OK.
Then use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod music to iTunes. You can download TouchCopy from here

Open iTunes (without iPod connected). Create a new playlist and copy songs you want on your iPod into that list. Next connect your iPod. Once iTunes recognizes your iPod then go to the music tab and click on 'sync playlist only' and chose the new playlist that you created. Click sync. Only the songs in your new playlist should be copied to your iPod.

IVE JUST BOUGHT A LAPTOP,IVE GOT MY ITUNES ON IT AND IT WONT LET ME COPY ANY OF MY MUSIC ONTO DISC.

are you trying to copy music onto a cd disk or onto your ipod. If you are trying to copy music onto your ipod, you will have to clear the ipod of the music that was loaded onto it previously, because it will not detect your new settings on your laptop. An easy way to do this is copy over your itunes music folder onto cd/dvd from your old computer and paste the music into your itunes music folder on your laptop. When you open itunes go to file, import file, and choose your itunes music folder. (If it hasn't aready automatically picked the music up). This will put all of your music back into the itunes library. You will then need to create another playlist for your ipod. Reset your ipod in itunes mode and upload your new playlist onto it. If you have vista on your laptop then you may need to download the lastest version of itunes. You can do that by going here> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I hope this helps
