If the system was connected to power when the penny was inserted and was shaken to get it out, Then something has got shorted out. Can not tell you what component. But the penny has probably came in contact with about every component in the console. If it didnt short anything out then it has damaged the laser.

My son flicked pennies into the Wii console...I would like to know how to get them out. Thanx!

Hmm... I guess your Wii is worth a little more now! ... but seriously, you're kind of at a lose/lose situation here because this is going to require opening the Wii either way.

Suggested Way: (This may not be what you'd like to hear but I'll explain why)

You'll need to send it to the Nintendo support center provided from the support number that came with your Wii Console and send it in to get the pennies removed. Costly? Probably...

So why is this suggested? When you open your Wii you automatically void the waranty; you also run the risk of either breaking/tearing something and not putting it back together properly.

I cannot tell you to take it apart, but if you do, please be very careful. There is a very flimsy ribbon cable that runs with the disc feed and the laser that reads the disc is very-uber-mega-super sensitive (no, but seriously it is really sensitive, do not touch it).

What Not To Do:

Do not turn it upside down and try to shake them out. There are many pieces that are very brittle, hence the hard plastic casing surrounding it. These pennies sliding around in it could easily cause a disconnect and ruin your system, costing you even more when you need to send it out for repairs.

Hope everything goes good for you!

Respectfully,

Don

My Wii is jammed with pennies.

you'll need to contact the technical suppport team of the shop you bought the game from and tell them what happened and see if they'll be able to sort it out.

It won't work

I'm getting a similar error. I put in every wii game I own, and every single game had a black error message screen with white text informing me to remove the disk + turn off the power. However, for some odd reason my gamecube games work, as does Okami and Mario Kart Wii.

I will admit I've been incessantly resetting my wii since I'm recording a speedrun, and sometimes let the wii move + shake a lot, though this doesn't explain why 2/10 of my wii games are still working when all the discs are in similar condition.
