The problem can be bad power supply feeding the backlight inverter circuits due to bad caps, or in the inverter circuits, or worst case will be bad lamps, you need to open it up and tell us what you see inside first, good pictures will help, see example of failed VIEWSONIC due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Fading colour

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Va1703 wb blinking problem

Hello,

That is a sure indication of a failure in the power supply board. The problem is that Viewsonic used two different power supply boards in the va1703wb model. If you want to do the repair yourself you should be able to. If you can open the unit and send a picture of the power supply board to us at [email protected] we would be glad to show you what parts need to be replaced to rebuild the board and get it back up and running.

Where is the backlight located in my viewsonic va1703wb?

The backlight is located inside the monitor behind the LCD screen, it looks like a thin florescent bulb. I would recommend not replacing it and just replacing the monitor. The bulb is cheap probably between 10 to 30 dollars, but you also may need the EMI kit, and with your labor involved you may not be saving any money. Also if you don't get the correct bulb you may have a green or hue effect.

My viewsonic monitor VA1703wb image doesn't fill the screen

There are a couple of reasons for this problem.
1. The screen resolution was set too low. Try 1024 X 768 or higher.
2. If you cannot change the screen resolution then the video driver was not installed or the wrong video driver was installed.

Hi i am using viewsonic lcd VA1703WB monitor.i am getting a horizantal line in the middle of the montor.i bought the system in jan07.please give a proper advice to rectify the problem.

Hi,
The most likely cause is blown diodes in the screen.
You will have to take it to your local Viewsonic agent to check it out.

Vertical green line somthing like an artifact

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new monitor.

Monitor won't display resolution properly after Windows Update

I was having the same problem. Believe it or not I fixed it by unplugging the monitor, and when I restarted my PC I again had the 1440 × 900 option.

Jeff
