I cannot email a scanned letter. I get the message: The operation failed. An object cannot be found. Microsoft Office Outlook. I have a new Del Computer and my existing Canon CanoScan 4400F. I can see...

As a quick fix, if I could see it on the screen, it should be possible to save it to the drive taking note of what name you saved it as. If you then drag and drop the file onto your opened email, it should attach to the email. If it doesn't, you should be able to drill down to where the file is on the drive via the paperclip symbol.

If the screen scan saves only as one page at a time, hopefully you can save each page as a PDF or convert what you do save to PDF. CutePDF or PrimoPdf may offer a driver for the conversion. There is a program called PDF binder (freeware) that does a great job of welding several pages into one file. Possibly the freeware program File Minimizer might reduce the file size. Yes, this is a time consuming work around but it gives you an option.

I doubtlessly have cracked up some other helpers with this convoluted method but at least you have my "bear claws and stone tools" method.

How do I scan and transfer to outgoing email??

Hi. Here are the steps you need to do to send a scanned document/image using your default email application. Place your orinal document/image on the printer. Using the Productivity Studio software, click email, select the scan type (photo, several photos or document). Click start. Click create email to attach the file to the email message. Hope this helps. There's also a PDF file User Guide you can download from the Lexmark website for your reference. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/9gZV0u . Click on the 9500 Series All-In-One User's Guide found below the page. Download the PDF file. Refer to Scanning page for concerns about scanning. Good luck!

Scans are too large...

while scanning try reducing the DPI of the scans. this will make the image smaller in size but it will effect the picture quality very little. but do keep in mind that the dpi must be atleast 70 for better picturization

1.press the scan button on the op panel
2.select scan setting
3.select file type
4.select multi page multi page to have the entire scan job sent as a single file.
if you are scanning jpeg as file type they will only scan as single page docs only pdf and tiff can be sent as multi page files

Scanning several pages and saving as one document

Try this....
Scan your multiple pages to an image file, like .jpg, I know it's tedious, name them (optional) by page number, put them into an empty folder.

When you're done with all the scanning, open the folder, select all of them, open with: Preview.

Now, you should see one page, with a side bar containing all of the pages. (If they're not in order, you can drag and drop within the sidebar to reorder.) Select all of those (Or Command A)

Command P (Or Print)
In this window, you should see page one, and below that, make sure it says "Page 1 of XX"...this way you know you got 'em all, and it's your final opportunity to page through them all by clicking on the little arrows to make sure they're in the right order.

Click the PDF button
Save as PDF...

See if that helps

Scanning several pages

That 1st solution looks like SPAM. You could google "Free pdf software" and find a program that would allow you to scan and convert the pages to a pdf file to email. But if you don't do it often enough to need this kind of program, here is the simplest method: Scan your pages to a folder. Begin to compose your email and click on "add attachment". Browse to that folder, open it, then use the "shift + click" method to select them all (first click on page #1, then while holding down "shift" click on the last page you want--this will select them all). Then click "Attach" and they will all be attached to the email as separate files.

Scanning several pages and saving as one document

Single scan printers can be difficult in this manner.\

Consider using the OCR (optical character recognition) software that came with your scanner.

Basically the part of the software that asks you what you are scanning (picture, document, newspaper) and make sure to select document. This will enable the character recognition which will convert the scanned picture into a document that you can configure to go into Microsoft Word or Notepad or whatever. If you have multiple pages, it MIGHT give you the option to scan more than one page at a sitting. then again, it may not. In which case you might be kicking yourself for not purchasing the scanner with the auto feed attachment! Once you have made your scanned document in your word processor - READ THROUGH IT! may have converted characters incorrectly - like an "S" may be now a "$" it happens - and it will happen. When done, attach complete document to email and BOOM done.

Either this or use a fax machine :)

hope i helped!
