If the washer doesn't operate or make any noise when set on any cycle, or if it stops suddenly when it should continue onto the next cycle, it may not be receiving electrical power or, if the motor stopped mid-cycle, the machine's overload protector may have tripped. In this case, take out some of the articles to reduce the load and let the protector reset itself, then restart. Otherwise:

1) Be sure it is plugged in and turned on. If necessary, check the receptacle it's plugged into for power, using a working lamp, appliance, or voltage tester. Be sure the washer lid is closed completely.

2) If the receptacle seems dead, check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves that circuit.
3) Unplug the washer and check the power cord. If necessary, replace the cord.

4) Open the lid and check the lid switch and the tab on the lid that it pushes against. Press and release the switch: if it doesn't click when you do this, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repair service person.

5) If the washer still doesn't work, the controls may be faulty. Call a service person.

Good Luck

Washer mashine Ariston Margherita 2000. Fills drum with water. How can I change water inlet valve please?

Looks like you have the right things. All you need to do is order and new valve set and attach it. The problem could be the power or the switch to it though

Quiet pak 4 shows code 20 it will fill up and wash 2 minutes before it throws a code

"F20" error code is indicating that no water is detected entering the machine or the pressure switch trip is not detected. If after 30 seconds of filling with water and the minimum of 0.11 of water is not detected entering or the maximum fill time of 16 minutes is exceeded, the valves will turn off and the error code will be displayed. It is an indication that you either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water at all. If you have verified the water pressure is fine, you may have a faulty Flow Meter. You could remove the cold and hot water supply lines, after shutting the water off of course, at the washer and then look to see if the filter screen is restricted inside the water inlet valve on the washer.

The first would be to blow through the pressure switch hose towards the tub. You should be able to blow through the hose without much force. If the air trap the hose is hooked up to is blocked then the pressure switch will not see the water entering the tub. With the tub empty blow through the hose and then hook it back up and see if there is any improvement.

Finding water in the washer after it sits idle for a few hours. Wife tells me that she completes a wash cycle as normal, moves the clothes to the dry emptying the washer. Then later in the day she returns...

yes its a leaky solenoid water inlet valve, shut off each water fill valve after using the machine and check the drum later to see if its still empty, then do the other4 valve and when you find water then thats the leaky valve, don't try to clean it,just replace the entire valve

Drum filling with water when machine switched off

what you refer to as the overflow cap is the cover to the filter which you should remove regularly and check. however nothing to do with your problem. the water could be coming from two sources: first, if the drain is plumbed in under the sink, water can flow into the machine every time you empty the sink. the cure is to put the drain hose up as far as possible in a swan neck. secondly, the intake water valves could be leaking and the only cure then is to replace them
