Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 26, 2010

I have a Samsung HL-S5086W TV. It runs for 10 minutes and then turns off. The Standby Temp LED flashes red,and the timer and Lamp LEDs flash green. I am trying to find out probable causes.

First thing I did was to check the fan and it was running.

I received a response suggesting the lamp may have a short. If this is true wouldn't the tv not come on at all? The fact that the tv runs for awhile and then cuts off would seem to idicate some sort of temp related issue.

Samsung HL-T6756 DLP TV Standby/temp light flashing and tv won't come on. I have replaced the lamp and the fan is working. Any suggestions?

Remove lamp and inspect the color wheel to see if missing pieces or shattered---it will also just before failing give a high pitched or fan like sound and if running too slow or not at all instant shutdown happens.

Its also possible if you bought a GENERIC bulb--and used original cartridge the new lamp is bad.

Hello. First thing to do is to replace lamp in your TV.
Especially if it was not replaced for year or longer.
If problem continues - then professional should diagnose it and determine if ballast went bad as well.

I have a 56" samsung rear projection tv that won't turn on. the red standby light is lit and when i push the power i hear two clicks and the green timer light flashes quickly then the green led stays lit...

I suspect you probably have a bad LED assembly. It could be either the red, green or blue that is bad and give you the same symptom. The problem is locating parts for it as it looks like the light engine is no longer available. I would have a technician look at the TV to verify this and what parts are needed for repair.
