Hi,

this is a general fault light which could mean anything without a Miele Technician coming out and connecting a
laptop to the unit. However most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. See what part of the cycle the unit lights up the fault. If it happens at the very start it is the drain. If it drains ok then fails it is the inlet. If it fails after that it could be any number of things.
Hope this helps.

The washing keeps stickingonrinse

Main thing to check here is.... The pump filter is clear of any debris.
Possibly a faulty inlet valve as most machine use a different inlet valves for rinse/spin and Wash feature.

Dishwasher is not working. The red 'Inlet/Outlet' light is flashing. Any advice please Thank you

There are a few things you can check. First set the washer cycle to Stop and turn off the unit. Next make sure that the stopcock on the inlet valve is fully open. Then close the stopcock/valve and disconnect the inlet hose. Remove the seal and then the filter (use pliers). Clean this inlet filter with running water. Replace the filter and seal and reconnect the hose to your inlet valve. Reopen the valve (check for leaks from threading problems). Make sure the valve is fully open when you try to restart the dishwasher. Check your incoming water pressure at this valve as well - low water pressure will also trigger the inlet error. Make sure the hose is not kinked.

If the washer did any parts of the wash cycle, then try cleaning the outlet side of the system.
Next clean the combination filter, drain pump and non-return valve. For the filter (near the lower spray arm), turn the handle counter-clockwise. Lift the filter out and remove all debris. Rinse under running water and use a nylon bristle brush to get stubborn stuff out. Pull back the yellow clip and open the filter flap. Clean the underside of the filter with running water again.

Remove the water from the cabinet with any container that works. Raise the locking clamp for the non-return valve. Lift up the valve and clean it under running water. Carefully check the drain pump (now visible with the non-return valve out) and remove any debris. Sharp objects may be present. Move the impellers and completely check the pump for foreign objects and remove them. Replace the non-return valve and secure it with the locking clamp. Replace the combination filter so that it lays flat and secure it with the handle. Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked.

If neither of these solve the problem, you need to call for service. The Waterproof safety system has been triggered and water got into the electrical system of the unit.

Many Miele appliance manuals are here: http://www.miele.co.uk/customer/OperatingInstructions.aspx . The manual for the Miele G641 is here: http://www.miele.co.uk/Resources/OperatingInstructions/G%20641%20and%20G%20841%20Plus.pdf . See this manual for pictures of the filters and drain pump area.

I hope this helps.

Dishes have sandy residue and they don't get clean

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Cloudy, spotty / dirty dishes post cycle are almost always the result of drain problems.
1. Start at the sick connection and remove the hose. Clear the connection port of any debris and re-connect the hose.
2. Most dishwashers also have and Air-Gap installed above the counter top. If your dishwasher drain has an Air-Gap; remove the outer vocer by lifting it straight off. NOTE the installed position of the inner cap as it will only reinstall ONE WAY. Unscrew the plastic nut retaining the cap and lift out the cap noting the position. Clean out any debris in the cap area. Use a flashlight to inspect the inlet and outlet hose connections. Re-connect any disconnected hoses as a result of inspection or cleaning.
3. Check the waste drain hose for any folds, or kinks. Straighten the hose if necessary.
4. POWER REMOVED completely from the dishwasher. Remove the lower kick / toe panel and access the pump darin house connection. Remove the waste drain hose and clear any obstructions from the port. Re-install the hose.

Test Dishwasher with a glasware wash. Check for post cycle cloudy or spotted glassware.

If the problem persists:
1. Inspect upper and lower wash arm sprayer holes for obstructions. Clear obstructions. Large obstructions will require spray arm removal.
2. Inspect the tub sump area for any signs of debris. If you note debris you may have to also remove the lower wash arm support to clear the debirs. Just note that some wash arms are a real puzzle to re-install to make sure your paying attention to how it came off.

Test Dishwasher again.

If none of the above remedy the problem. The sump housing and pump impeller will need to be inspected for damage.

I would recommend you add 1 cup of vinegar and the juice from a freshly squeezed lemon with a NO DISHES / NO SOAP short wash cycle to clean up the tub area. Then do a NO DISHES short wash with 1/4 cup bleach and powdered dishwashing soap to complete the cleaning cycle. You can add 2 tsp of lemon juice in the final wash to knock down the bleach smell. You don't have to use the lemon at all but it makes a world of difference.

The above information should remedy your current problem.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Just encountered exact same problem - happened after attempting to clean very greasy pans so grease/oil created foam/more or less solid material in filter area, but as well in pressure switch (pn 4859640)
This seems to be the cause (not sure yet)

Dishes are not rinsing completely.why? th cycle seems to be finishing, but the dishes are not rrinsed properly. Do I ned a repairman?

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.Clean the filter if there is accumulation of debris in the filter

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

Miele G641 dishwasher. -inlet/Drain light flashing - water does not empty and wash cycle will not start.

I found all of these tips helpful although my issue was slightly different. The styrofoam float had become slightly warped with age and was triggering the switch while dry. Shaving a little of the foam off has returned my dishwasher to working order.

Dibris on glasses afterwash. Dishes not coming clean

First check salt level is ok, the next thing may be it's having problems pumping out after the primary wash.
Try running a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner or 2 cups of washing soda, then pull out outlet hose and check it's clear.
Check all filters are clear and in good condition with no cracks.

Dishwasher

Check to see if you have any switches on your dishwasher that could by pass a rinse cycle. Use a hotter temparture when washing, Check your water level, check your filters on your inlet hose top and bottom. When it gets to a rinse cycle you should hear it drain out and bring in fresh water. you could change to a liquid detergent. Dont over load your dishwasher. make sure you are using rinse aid and try adjusting it up one setting. Shiney glasses means your rinse add is working. NZL
