Hi!
First, make sure you know the
SSID (name of your wireless network) and
Network key (if your wireless router is secured). Also, make sure that the
SSID broadcast of your laptop is enabled (this is an option in the router if they will broadcast the signal or not).
I assume that your laptop came with a built in Broadcom adapter. Depending on the brand of your laptop, there is always a wireless switch. You need to look for the
wireless switch and turn it
ON. For most laptops it's a sliding switch on either the side or front of the laptop. For some it's a combination key - like pressing FN + F2 at the same time.
For
XP laptops, you can use the XP wireless utility located on the lower right side of your screen like this :
For some reason the XP utility cannot detect any signal and it's telling you that "
Windows cannot configure this.. if you enable another utility, use that software to connect", that only means that there is another software in the computer that is running the wireless connection. You can go to Start > All Programs and look for that utility - you can start by searching a program like broadcom.
For
Vista , look for this icon to connect:
I hope that helps.
Good luck and have a nice day!
