I have the same problem, I have not authorized service person in my area, so HP did send some one to fix it and didn't send the right parts. Its been escalated until after "the holidays" being Canadian I asked what holidays??? Presidents day, not "its a holiday in the US" on Monday... what an arrogant attitude to display, when he has my file in front of him, no help-just attitude. will post after management calls me... I think this may be a system wide premature failure on this part.
They actually replaced the TV - out of warrenty... might be a refurb though?? I actually found the lcdparts sight a few days after my post... at least I know if it happens again!
I had the same problem. Based on other resutls of a Google search, I replaced the backlight inverter board. That fixed the problem. I got my substitute board from http://www.lcdparts.net/LCDTVInverterdetail.aspx?InverterOriginal=V144-001MSS.
All you need to replace the board is ap hilipps head screw driver and be comfortable taking electronics apart and handling PC boards (you need to take a couple of layers off before you get to the board).
Any HP M2727 manufactured before January 1, 2010 is covered by a service advisory that will get the printer repaired at no charge. You need to contact HP and get a case number or contact an authorized HP service partner. Be insistent, I have seen some service partners who have no idea that this service advisory exists. You can check the date of manufacture by looking at the serial number sticker on the back of the unit.
